I can't seem to get my UK Spec 2019 Prius into "camper mode" i.e. Hybrid system running, but DRLs off. My Headlight switch is type B, with only 3 positions Auto/Side/Headlight. I don't have an "O" off position. I've tried the procedure in the manual, "To make your vehicle more visible to other drivers during daytime driving, the daytime running lights turn on automatically whenever the hybrid system is started and the parking brake is released with the headlight switch in AUTO the or "O" position. Daytime running lights are not designed for use at night. " so... I do this.... 1.car off, switch in AUTO, parking brake on. 2. start the hybrid system (foot brake and Power button) and the lights come on straight away (either DRL if daylight, or headlights if night-time) Am I doing something wrong? or is this a config item? Phil
I'll give it a go in the morning - I've done it some how - regularly if I leave it parked for a short time and locked with the real key and ON - to keep the A/C on.
1. Turn car OFF; 2. ParkBrake ON; 3. Lights on AUTO if not already; 4. Start normally; and 5. Enjoy camping.
With the Hybrid system on, the headlights will come on when it's dark as we have no "Off" position on the switch here in the UK, not really any use for camping. However, on my 2016, during daylight, the DRLs don't come on when the car is started in P, but come on as soon as you shift into D or R and stay on until you switch the car off (or put the headlights on) even if you shift back to P.
no - no lights came on with the sequence I used. I do it often - I'd lock Mum in the car when she said "you go in to the Post Office (et al) and leave me here with the A/C on". Or on a hot day, if I've got a short shopping expedition and I'd like to come back to a cool car.
Germany has they hitch in the back for towing if you want to order OEM one. They also have the colored version of the large17' rim. The inserts come in blue, red, and dark sliver.
So, I can get this to work in daylight hours... But not in the dark.... Yet Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Same here, not that I go camping, but intrigued to see if it works and no matter what combination I use, the headlamps still come on.
Hmmm - odd that it worked during daylight. I just went out and tried it, and you're right. But I tried it in position "O" and it worked. Try this: 1. Turn car OFF; 2. ParkBrake ON; 3. Lights on "O" if not already; 4. Start normally; and 5. Enjoy camping.
Ah, that must be the key thing, in the UK we do not have a 0 position, just Auto, Sidelights and Headlights. I can stop the running lights coming on in the daytime by making sure the foot break is applied, but if I try the same thing at night time then the headlamps come straight on.
