This is a BEV argument instead of a BEV truck argument - and there’s enough ah....”fuel” for both EVangelsits and their detractors for things like range anxiety, recharge times and being left stranded with no amps in the can.

    This is entirely situational.
For those in storm country - you prepare head of time.
If you live in places where wildfires are a problem - you prepare ahead of time differently, ESPECIALLY if there are already challenges with traffic and power distribution.
Otherwise you might no longer LIVE in places where wildfires, power distribution, and traffic density are problematic. ;)

    Um....a *lot* of them.
    Too many to count, really.

Otherwise, why carry more than an hour’s worth of fuel?

Yes, this is what an aging demographic of boomers will prefer/buy today. But project forward a decade or two, the main buyers of cyber trucks will have no interest in what grandpa prefers. The grandparents are retired now and on a fixed income and have no need for a work truck, no plans to buy several trucks over the course of a construction career. And that's the much younger demographic this truck is designed for. This demographic was born and raised on highly complex video games with vehicles that look very much like the cyber truck.

What part of 150K pre-orders in the first 24 hours... Then 50K additional pre-orders in following days don't you understand? That's more than $10 billion in future revenue secured in in the past few days while the stock market that is heavily leveraged by fossil fuel criminals games the market to tank the stock by 6% for a day long publicity stunt in the same way they always do, then yet again Tesla wins and they lose. Wake up to reality bro!

If you think that big T’s money troubles are behind them then I’d wait until it drops a little more, otherwise you might as well “invest” in scratchers at the sack-n-rob.

I’m amused that big T went with $100 refundable deposits.

Really makes those “pre-order” numbers pop, doesn’t it?

Maybe fact check before you say something so you don't look so silly?

All you grumpy old knee-jerk sticks in the mud are so predictable and boring... Same old routine in 2000 when Amazon was operating at a loss and your ilk acted like they'd never amount to anything cause they never posted a profit. Now dude who runs it is richest person in the world.

Meanwhile Tesla is very much like Amazon back then but they're already posting quarterly profits, already significantly disrupting luxury car market share, already establishing factories on other continents and best of all: Tesla made a profit of $143 million in Q3 2019 on record deliveries ----> " The other headline figures from Q3 2019 are that, at the end of September, the company had $5.3 billion in cash and cash equivalents and $371 million in operating cash."

    Yeah.
    I know.

So what are the terms for pre-ordering the truck, exactly?
The reason I asked is because...well, I asked.
BEFORE I saw one, that is.
I was thinking that when I LOGGED INTO Tesla’s site they told me that the deposit was $100
    AND fully refundable.
However (comma!) I’ll admit that maybe I’ve lost a step or two going around the bags.

    You know.
    Age and stuff.....

Tesla Cybertruck: Here's how to order Elon's crazy new truck - Roadshow

Oh...and I thought we already did the Amazon thing.
In 2000 I had already been an Amazon customer for several years.

We grumpy people with old knees roll like that.... :D

It’s a niche vehicle and it will have its buyers.

I do NOT think that they will hit their price and schedule numbers, nor do I think that very many general contractors or ranchers will be buying them.
BUT...they’ll sell the ones that they make.
I suspect that there WILL be buyers in ultra-urban areas that are tired of driving low slung BEVs in city traffic and might look at something like a crossover BEV.....and the cybertruck is “technically” maybe one of those.

I also think that FOMOCO and GM are also going to be in the game more earnestly by then....so we’ll see.

it will probably go like the cars, price higher at the beginning of sales than announced, production hiccups and delays. then after several iterations, 5 or 10 years down the road it will sell in model 3 numbers or percentages compared to pick ups.

Something about the opinion of a son of a man with almost 84K comments on PriusChat makes me think it's an outlier data point... :)

I do. And I don't think Hummers are very attractive.

    Yea, this thing is hideous...
But how important is it to you, that a truck looks pretty (this has been very important to me in the past) or, that is super strong, reliable, and cheap to operate ? Because regarding these things, no other truck on the market even comes close.

Exactly. Tail gate extenders are an easy add on. Awesome that it didn't have wheel well bulges in the way... But the next question; is that box 4ft wide ???

Except the Ttruck isn't on the market yet. And won't be for a long long while. And it will be a while after that before we know the reliable.

Let me try again, being more concise...
Does anyone know how common it is for trucks to have the ability to charge @220V tools, or pneumatic tools?
