With the news on the 2021 Rav4 Prime released yesterday I may order one to supplement my 2018 Prius Prime. Is anyone else thinking the same. My 2013 Rav4 is still working great for my wife.

The Rav4 Prime sounds like a nice addition to the Toyota Prime family.

I am giving it some thought, not as a supplement, but as a replacement for both my Prime and my 4Runner. At 39 EV miles it looks like it would get a sales tax break in WA and perhaps a larger Federal tax rebate than the Prime.

My daughter drives a 2017 Prime and a 2001 Subaru Forester, when needed she hopes to replace the Forester with a PHEV SUV. The RAV4 is a contender!

Definitely under consideration for me. This could be the replacement for both vehicles when I'm ready to join my husband in retirement and we transition to one car.

If I still had my Gen 3, I would’ve put a deposit down today. But alas, I just bought my Prime earlier this year so it’ll be a few years til I think about replacing it (maybe with the next gen Prius/Prius Prime or another manufacturer’s BEV).

We have a 2013 RAV4 already but I would love to have the RAV4 PRIME.

I'm intrigued, too. Any way to know if this Prime would actually be sold by dealers in every state? (Sorry if that is in the press material and I missed it.)

Most of the US is served by Toyota Motors North America, but early in it's history it sold distributorship to the SouthEast US. Gulf States Toyota is the distributor for AR, LA, MS, TX, and OK, The Friedkin Group - Gulf States Toyota and SouthEast Toyota Distributors serves AL, FL, GA, NC and SC
    Businesses

This means Toyota does not have a say about what cars these distributors choose to stock. You may wish to know the nearest Toyota dealer in TN, Capital Toyota 5808 Lee Hwy, Chattanooga, TN 37421 https://www.capitaltoyota.net/ Or Alabama, Springhill Toyota 3062 Government Blvd Mobile, AL 36606 Mobile, AL Toyota Dealer | Serving Bay Minette, Daphne, Foley, Theodore, Semmes and Baldwin County | Springhill Toyota | Camry, Rav4, Corolla

Not that it worries you, but Hawaii is in even a worse state, Toyota does not even handle their warranty. Servco Toyota Honolulu | Servco Toyota Honolulu Pre-owned Car, Truck and SUV Inventory.

Looks great. But I'm also very curious about the MPG in HV mode. I'd expect it to be similar to the difference between a Prius and a Prime, which is not a lot.

It's hard enough to find the RAV4 hybrid available this year, due to demand, I can't imagine how much more difficult it will be to find a RAV4 Prime!

With my new Prius Prime, it's the ideal car for non-hauling trips, but RAV4 Prime looks like it'll be the best SUV on the market for those other times. I wish that Toyota would have a battery upgrade in the future for the Prius Prime to get the battery mileage range up to 50 miles ... but probably just a fantasy.

I was thinking of improved battery technology in a few years (?), that would allow it to fit in the same volume.

Having owned a 2018 Camry XSE V6, that 300hp would be fantastic. Join it with hybrid, more space, and plug-in and you have a potential winner. Love the smallness of my Prime though. Small cars FTW!

they could also redesign the battery configuration to fit in the empty space beneath the current one.

Couldn't pull the trigger on 2019 Rav4 Hybrid early this year, looked for a used HiHy, but ended up buying a used Pathfinder Hybrid. Too soon to trade in, but never know. So tempting.

Switching to liquid cooling would let them stuff more cells into the space.

they'll never spend that kind of money on a car that won't sell in the numbers necessary to pay off.
