Its just really hard for me to be without it, even for a few days, as I need it to pay my bills...

Definitely not the problem, as like I say, I hop in the car in the morning, and it has that awesome fresh, new car smell. Then I turn on the ventilation system, and the smell it blows out smells like dirty socks. Its not in the car per say, but for sure, the ventilation system.

I guarantee anyone could smell it. My GF definitely can. The problem is, once its been blowing for a bit, it clears out, then its not detectable. I could totally see the dealership waiting a few minutes and saying.... "See, its fine now. We cant smell anything...."

well if it’s in the ductwork after the blower, somebody’s going to have to go in there and git it.

You can check the intake side, and the cabin air filter yourself without too much hassle, sometimes gross stuff makes it to the top surface. It’s almost a straight shot from the intake vent near the right side windshield wiper.

Have you looked at the Cabin Filter?

How many kilometres have you driven?

One correction to what I said earlier; The problem only happens with straight fan, or AC. I'm running the heater this evening, and the last passengers complimented how nice the car smelled. A little new car still mixed with lemon grass oil....

No. I've only had the car 3 weeks. 2662 miles, but again, it smelled like dirty socks the first time I used the AC 3 weeks ago...

I'd definitely be chasing TOYOTA if that's the case.

Making ASSumptions can often lead you to the entirely WRONG place. :D

You really NEED to give them a chance to fix it.

And they really should give you a loaner.

For years I have smelled mold blowing from the vents in my 2016 Prius, 2010 Prius, and several Honda Civic before. I will say that after moving from smoggy Oakland CA to the Oregon coast I don’t notice that funk very often. Even in our cold damp enviroment. Just saying.
Chris, you are a very sensitive individual. It seems you lock on to things that bother you and focus on them. I get it, I do the same. Try switching from recirculated air to outside air (as long as you can stand it). Turn off the AC before you arrive and stop the car; the vents have a chance to dry out. Clip an air freshener on the center vent, but avoid any and all synthetic fragrances, like Glade, Febreze, etc. I use essential oils of spruce, lemon, and peppermint on a felt pad that clips to the vent. Finally, get out of the car and smell the ambient air. If it does not smell fresh, don’t expect your cars plastic ductwork to do otherwise. Good luck!
