Which 2015 version best for offroading, or are they all the same?

    What I've paid for one off springs, R&D, etc. is going to be a lot more than what springs would cost off the shelf. I would plan on spending $340 for front and read springs, and the 215/70R15 BFG Advantage TA Sport tires im running cost about $100ea on tire rack. So cost would be approximately $740 for this setup. Thats assuming you did the install yourself, which should take the average person with basic hand tools and a rented spring compressor about 3-4 hours.

    As for why I would choose the standard prius over the V is based off of better fuel economy, less weight, lower center of gravity, and a shorter wheelbase. I would also argue that the standard prius is better looking, but that is personal preference. (y)

    V is van; more length for more room, heavier and takes up more gas. The least desired prius model for off road :whistle:

    The whole notion of an off-roading Prius is somewhat silly since that's not what its purpose is. One might ask an equally silly question like "what's the best Prius for rock crawling". or, "what's the best Lamborghini for off-roading" ... or, "what's the best snowmobile for long Hall Trucking"
    Where is Captain Obvious when you need him.

    Poster wants to brings two worlds together; gas saver and mudslinger in one. Nothing wrong with that. Just like those guys who added the red bullet in the Prius engine for more power.

    OP profile say's they have a 2005 Prius.
    If they haven't already invested into a Prius my advice is if you want something "best" for off-roading?-Buy something entirely different.
    The Prius isn't designed for off roading, modification for this purpose is extreme, and wouldn't be worth it to me.

    Hard to argue with that logic. If your primary goal is to to go off road then buy something different and suck it up at the pump. If you simply want to add a few inches of ground clearance and improve the ride on and off road while still getting 40+ actual mpg then there are cost efficient and relatively simple options available.

    There is a reason there is both chocolate and vanilla in the world. No need to disparage the OP. Surely he knows that the Prius is designed for paved roads but apparently wants some extra clearance for his purposes so he asked the question whether there are any differences between the models.

    I'm getting a car that I can convert to right hand steering for rural mail delivery for the USPS. Only certain cars have the ability to be converted to right hand steering, here is the list.

    It's not going to be crazy off-roading or anything like that.

    I treat my 2013 PIP like every other Toyota I've owned. I don't baby it, and short of reaching it's obvious limitations regarding ground clearance, it does fine on even other then paved roads. I have a RAV4, but driving it kinda sucks after the PIP, it has spoiled me. I live a couple miles down a gravel road, from a paved road on a mountain that leads to a nearby ski area. So, during the winter, every morning I have a decision to make: RAV4 or PIP? With Michelin IceX tires on both of them, ice is not the concern, snow over 6 or 8" is. This pic is at 8600', and it sure was nice having heat when I wanted it, as I was spending the night in it. Sat radio also, glamping! IMG_20190622_200140766~2.jpg

    Those are the two cars I am trying to decide between, either the 2012 Rav4 or the 2015 Prius. Won't be driving in snow, only rain/mud.

    My '99 RAV4, the last year I think they had the center diff lock button. A nice feature, NOT for driving with, but JUST for getting unstuck. Seems buyers abused the feature and they dropped it, like rear lockers on my crane truck, NOT for driving around, just briefly to get unstuck. It is a beast in snow, and runs great like every Toyota I've owned. I have the rear seats out, so it's like a little AWD panel truck (remember those?) and the tow bar is because I tow it sometime behind the crane. The hood is a bit buckled because someone wasn't paying attention when backing up the Kubota tractor one day last winter, bit it works perfect still. Mid to high 20's MPG, mid when in town and winter, high when on a road trip at 70 MPH. Good numbers really, but after the PIP, I call it the Gas Hog. IMG_20191105_085957784_HDR.jpg
