All the better to stand out to the police.

I'm actually 55yo. So I'm not a kid. But I am an artist, who loves color, especially loud, eye popping color

Ehhh... That just sounds like an excuse for somebody that's afraid to be noticed.
Again, if your worried about standing out to anybody... Including the police, don't buy a Corvette in the first place. Get yourself a white Toyota Corolla.
If I could afford a Corvette though, the finish would be louder than my racing style exhaust !

I am almost 65 and have a white Corolla, a white Prius and a green Tundra. White is the color that is seen best from a distance.

Just curious- you could get your car professionally painted for that kind of money. Why not?

Get it done properly and it's a lot more than that, particularly in metallic or similar - even more in PRIUS Red:
    upload_2019-10-24_11-22-6.png

But a top professional painting of something like a hotrod can be up to $10,000.

Over 66yo now. Had the following colours:
    BLUE Metallic
    GOLD Metallic
    GREEN Metallic
    GREEN, white roof
    GREEN 2 tone
    GREY, Dark Metallic
    GREY, Dark Metallic, White roof
    ORANGE
    RED
    SILVER Metallic
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    WHITE
    YELLOW
    YELLOW
    YELLOW

My favourites were YELLOW, never lose them in a carpark - though the hardest to maintain as they faded quickly, RED wasn't much better. Worst were the Dark Greys - they're almost invisible at dawn, dusk and night, RED was nearly as bad at night.

Exactly. I'm thinking at least $5000 for a good quality paint job nowadays.... And even so, it's hard to match the durability of a factory baked paint job.
Heck, even the pro level, high gloss color shifting Plasti dip is $2600 for a Prius ! Probably $4k for my big truck.

Pain in the butt to apply touch-up paint too, with these high-priced many-layered works of art.

Yes.... I hear you, but at the same time, a beautiful color, multi layer paint job, with a few tiny chips or flaws, will look much better than a perfect flawless factory paint job of white, silver, black, charcoal, etc.

    I am confused.
I thought the purpose of the Prius was to move me efficiently from one place to another. It was not designed to be a work of art or an entertainment system.

Don't be confused... It's not that complicated lol
It's just that a vehicle can be both utilitarian, as well as attractive too. And part of the latter, for some people, is having a nice finish.
Speaking of which, I've already had a couple say, "That's a Prius ? Wow, that looks pretty cool", in a surprised kind of way. I just laugh and reply, yes, I think they are looking pretty nice nowadays, myself.

Fair but the Prius c had fun colours to match its personality. Would be nice if there were more bold colours for the liftback version. Hypersonic/Supersonic and Blue Magnetism are the only ones on the US-spec models.

Edit: I do like the Tangerine Splash as well. It’s a nice orange colour that doesn’t look like a taxi or look bronze.

Having painted a few cars myself, I’m well aware of the spectrum of quality and the prices paid to achieve it.

But this isn’t a show car. We aren’t talking about 14 coats of hand-rubbed lacquer.

And a brand new car means it is still clean and undamaged, considerably less prep work required.

All I’m saying is that if you’ve mentally opened the door to spending a kilobuck on the problem, it is worth consulting a pro...

You may want to consider a car wrap.

Not my particular thing, but one of the advantages of living in the California is that they're really into cars there, and I'm thinking that they have one or two places to have this sort of thing done.

Re-paint or Wrap Your Car? Pros and Cons Explained - The Vehicle Lab

It's a little more expensive than Earl Scheib (ask your parents) but if you get tired of the wrap or you decide you want your car to just be...........a car, then you can peel it off and your pristine OEM paint job awaits your joyful rediscovery.

    Good Luck!

    yes - So Cal has more car wrapping places than Carter has pills (ask your grandparents). This one really caught my eye - as it's my better half's favorite color - (not mine) and because they even plasti-dipped rims.;

Both Toyota & Lexus have sprayed different shades of gold, but it never seems to be a popular with very many.

Vinyl wraps are cool, but I've actually been a huge fan of plasti dip spraying for a long time. It's also 100% peelable.

    DipYourCar.com

I'm finally going to get a little experience with doing this myself, first with doing my stock wheels in a metallic gloss black (this comes in aeresol cans), and then doing my roof a bright pearl white with a kit sprayer (more like an actual body color paint job).....
.....for a whole bunch of reasons btw, 1) it will be the most heat reflective, and coolest in the Summer, 2) it will be much easier to find in a big full parking lot, 3) it will totally protect the part of my factory paint job which gets the most abuse from sun and weather, 4) I think it will go great with my blue car. 5) it won't look like every other blue 2019 Prius LE

Probably the best part about Plasti dip, is that one can go with something loud and crazy..... Totally protect there factory paint underneath, and if you ever want to sell it, you peel it right off, and your back to a factory (baked on) paint job, in a boring color which most of the people on the street just love :)
