I like the solar effects that look like body accents. I like the rear wheel covers.
    Nice find drash
AI is still kinda new and automated driver assist needs more processing power than current computers are capable of (if as I've noticed with advanced cruise control accident avoidance radar and cameras in the prime) the sensors are picking up data that is being handled incorrectly occasionally. But everyone else in the industry is spending big on building a better mouse trap in the name of social engineering, so why shouldn't Toyota do likewise. Especially if they actually know / known what they are doing and why they are doing it.

short rant: I was a big fan of Datsun and a neighbor used to give my sister and I a ride to school in a 240Z, imagine 2 seniors and a sophomore in a 240Z. I'm not to thrilled about Nissan, especially after their suit against Nissan Computers, a small OEM computer company like I used to own / operate. :end rant

I've always wondered about adding small ( to begin with ) flexible, steering controlled front wheel covers.

I'm very aware how this might add another expensive possible failure point to an already complex expensive piece of equipment called a personal vehicle.
Think flying personal vehicles, like have been seen in many SciFi movies in the last 5 or 10 years. ie Blade Runner (both 1983 and 2017), The Fifth Element, Ghost in a Shell and Lucy and the computer controlled guidance they are going to need. Fun for the whole family, very much like holographic projector(s*) projecting interactive images, replacing the cellphone interactive LED screens.

Flat wheel caps are cheaper without adding a fail point. Why we don't see more of those will likely be why front wheel well covers aren't accepted. It is possible to make aerodynamic wheels that have acceptable aesthetics.

It must be embarrassing to design concept cars that won't ever be mass reproduced and is still barely offering what Tesla already offers in their mass production models. I bet morale is low and getting lower in the design department at Toyota.

makes one wonder - why they didn't just re-badge there failed Scion (40 mile range - just don't run the heater) electric IQ .... or, maybe they did. There may still be a couple hundred still here in the US, coming off lease & going straight to aToyota crusher.

Of course if you don't travel fast & far, & the garage is the size of a master bathroom ... or parking spots & lanes on the road are more befitting Costco shopping carts, then sure, this might just be the perfect transporter.

This one can’t be street legal. At a little over 8ft long with a max speed of 25mph it must be slotted as a security guard mall/college campus runabout. They must have had leftover MG1 motors to use in this thing. With a 60mile range, maybe Elon will get a couple to use in his gigafactories.

It's a slightly better Zap Xebra. Which are street legal on some roads.

Here Are Some Specs On The Toyota e-TNGA Platform For BEVs

According to Automotive News, who had the opportunity to speak with Toyota e-TNGA project chief engineer Koji Toyoshima, we can expect:

    • battery capacity from 50 kWh to 100 kWh
    • range from 186 miles (300 km) in case of smallest models to 310-372 miles (500-600 km) in case of larger/more expensive models (numbers in undisclosed test cycle)
    • two possible traction motors sizes with power output from 80 to 150 kW (we guess up to 300 kW in case of two motors - one per axle)
    • rear-wheel drive, front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive systems
    • small, medium and large cars of various types

My guess is the 2021 mirai will be the first "electric" vehicle built on the rwd e-TNGA and will have a 150 kw traction motor.

Hopefully there will be many bev and phevs to join the fcv built on the platform. Toyota has outlined many vehicles for themselves and their partners.

The c-hr and izoa bevs look like they are designed before the platform was developed.

Lexus plans to unveil their BEV next november...(y)

Lexus Presents its Vision of Future Electrification with the World Premiere of the LF-30 Electrified Concept | Lexus | Global Newsroom | Toyota Motor Corporation Official Global Website

To advance this goal, Lexus plans to unveil its first BEV in November 2019―broadening our response to the needs of various regions around the world, including the development of HEVs, PHEVs, BEVs, and FCEVs. Moving forward after that, Lexus plans to expand its electrified vehicle lineup―we will launch our first Lexus PHEV and a new dedicated BEV platform early in the coming decade. By 2025, Lexus will have available electrified versions of all Lexus vehicle models, and we are aiming for the sales of electrified vehicle models to outpace those of conventional internal combustion engine vehicle models.

    Oh dear god:

“Taking advantage of a hoodless vehicle shape made possible by being a BEV, Lexus' signature "spindle" form has been further evolved to span the entire vehicle architecture.”

Also, an educated guess of the PHEV model would be the next gen NX.
