Toyota's New Model Yaris Makes World Premiere | Toyota | Global Newsroom | Toyota Motor Corporation Official Global Website New Toyota Yaris – Designed for urban life - 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine (cut down 2.0 engine?) with 40% efficiency, no mention of D-4S, probably PFI only - 15% more system power - so around 114 HP - more than 20% increase in fuel efficiency - E-Four is being offered on a Toyota compact car for the first time. - TSS 2.0, with Rear Cross Traffic Auto Brake. The sensing system has been expanded to prevent accidents at intersections by detecting oncoming cars when turning right and pedestrians crossing the street when turning right or left (adopted by Toyota for the first time). - World’s first centre airbags
The photo of the engine is from the normal 1.5 3-cylinder and not for the hybrid since there is a normal alternator and AC compressor.
Maybe there still is hope for a Prius C-like vehicle in the US again in a couple of years. I wonder if this is really a shared venture with Mazda again ?
It also has a traditional 12v starter motor and it can also be seen in the powertrain layout photo so it would seem that is correct photo of the actual ICE. If so, this is a completely new and different hybrid system.
The is a general sharing of technology between the two, but the Mazda Yaris is just a North America thing
I remember talking to a stealer at a stealership saying "When are they gonna make a hybrid Yaris?" He said, "Just buy a Prius C." And I'm like "Prius C is almost as ugly as a regular Prius. But Yaris is so much nicer looking, so much more humble and refined than the try too hard to look cool foolishness that Toyota makes." He didn't have a reply... Little did we know it's because Mazda designed it... Other than the shape of a Tesla Model 3, I think Mazda makes the nicest looking body shapes, especially front fender designs...
That's the AC you're seeing in the powertrain layout, not the starter... And there's no alternator in the power train layout... There is nothing new & different about this hybrid system. @GasperG can you please delete the photo of the non-hybrid engine? It has nothing do with this car or this website. Thanks!
Just tell him that Toyota has been producing a Yaris hybrid since 2014 I see quite a few on the road here.
i have always liked the yaris look. that's a bit too in your face, but not horrible. glad to see they're adding a hybrid
Yes, that's probably Toyota's factory in France that started in 2013... Such wise vehicles modest vehicles never made it to the USA, where the bigger and stupider the car looks, the more people want to buy it.
Maybe we’ll see a Yaris Hybrid AWD-e here. That’ll separate it from its subcompact competitors. Hopefully not too expensive. looks like next gen TSS-C as well. And “Advanced Park” which takes S-IPA to the next level - no pedal input required.
With both Yarii here now a Mazda2, I don't see Toyota bothering to pay to get the Yaris hybrid certified for our markets. The Prius c didn't even last to the end here.
As for the current Yaris HSD, Spritmonitor averages 4.81L/100km. [48.8MPG US] Consumption: Toyota - Yaris Hybrid - Spritmonitor.de 20% less fuel consumption may set down the bar for a gasoline-only-powered car: 3.85L/100km. [60MPG US]
I had an Echo before my first Prius and it was a fantastic little car. Right now, I would trade my Prius for this upcoming hybrid Yaris since we have a RAV4 hybrid to do any hauling we need and a small city car would work for everything else. Although it may not come to the US, there has been indication of something smaller than the RAV4 being produced here. If it is a hybrid, that might work but the new Yaris is a good looking vehicle.
They also said they tested it in few EU cities it can do up to 80% on electric in urban driving current Gen4 Prius can do around 60%. Im waiting for it becouse it cought me off guard i newer tought Yaris would have everything i want
