And another thing... If you install a lift, be sure to add a block or two(2x6 scrap etc..) to your spare tire kit/tools. Cause I'm not sure the stock prius jack will be able to lift the car high enough in the event you need to change out a flat tire.

 

First off road test.. dry grass field/hillside.. Nothing crazy. When it gets stuck going over the curb, I think the rear wheel comes off the ground for a moment...

This car has never failed me.

I'v got a full inch between tire and flange on the fronts.. Sorry about the glare on the tape measure, couldn't find a good angle.


The rears though.. I only have 1/4-5/16" of gap there.. But it's some kind of plastic brace at the bottom of the wheel wells, which seems removable if needed..

 

Artrockets, Where did you get the hardened replacement bolts? The bolts that came with my kit have a funky serrated collar, kind of like a gear on them, never seen anything like that before. Looks to me like M8 1.25 x 70mm and M10 1.25 x 70mm.

Dale Denton, what is the purpose of the spacer blocks you inserted between the coil spring loops? I get that they give you a slight bit more lift but they also change the spring rate by some small amount. Why do you think they are a good thing?

I'm about to install my kit on my 2006. Wish I had been able to scrounge some Corolla sway bars by now.

 

Yea, the kit comes with splined bolts.. The theory being you press/hammer those splines into the bolt hole and they keep the bolt from spinning while you tighten. I got my hardened bolts with the same metric size thread at a local place.. http://www.specialtytoolandbolt.com

You can see their website, so maybe you can find/google a similar place near you.. I don't wanna call it a machine shop, but that's all I can come up with to label it. Home Depot would have probably have something.. maybe..

On the rear shocks, 1 of the three nuts is welded to the car. So that thread size has to remain the same. All the other bolts you technically could swap out for a similar diameter bolt with the appropriate nuts..

Yea, I hadn't used photobucket in awhile and since posting some pics here recently I learned.. I forgot to shrink the file size down and Iv exceeded their 'bandwidth' and now they want money from me.. Im sorry y'all... I'll look for new way.

 

Wow guys super impressed at everything here. First Post. First New Car. First Prius! First Prius awd! I am coming from an SUV and the RAV4 was out of my price range. Stoked to be a Prius owner. None of those pictures show up for me. Anyone have a link to a lifted Prius. IDK if that is something I could do myself but I have fixed some issues on older cars. Doesn't look too hard I might have to get a buddy and do it!

Yeah that one I can see. Looks good was hoping to see a picture of suspension midway through. Might wait for OG suspension to fail or at least use up the 3 year warranty. After that I'm hoping to raise it up a little and take it to Mexico for a roadtrip.

I would wait for warranty to expire before jacking it up.. Me? I'm hitting 200k, that's when all bets are off and I can feel okay about doing crazy stuff to my car.

Thanks for posting pics and vids of the lift. Are you still getting the mileage you first reported with the lift installed?

This forum has helped me tremendously over the years, I'm on engine #2, used one of those oversized green hockey pucks to refirbish the hybrid battery, diagnosed and verified many issues, and soon will lift the bad boy...lol... got a notification yesterday that my order was delivered, I opted for the aluminum spacers when I saw someone got a "bad batch" and theirs crumbled? The aluminum spacers took over a month to arrive FWIW, and since I'm on a ship at work, will be a while before before I can play with my car again.

Any significant alignment issues after the lift?

Hey guys, I'm new to the forum. Have only owned my Gen 2 2009 Prius for about 6 months. Several months ago, I also ordered a lift kit off of Ebay (the aluminum one from Rising Suspension). Have not installed them yet. The four red 40mm blocks appear to be very solid and well made from Russia. But as you all pointed out, the connecting bolts are unmarked and leave doubt. So I will follow your lead and order heavy-duty ones from the link provided above or locally. I'm gathering suspension parts right now to do a lot of things at once. Thus, the delay with the install.

CMASailor, looks like you and me with the Rising Suspension kits. Let me know if you had a change to install yet. And I'll do the same with you.

ArtRocket, those wheels look really good. What brand are those? My car is the same metallic grey color. I will probably do the same sized tires and rims as you after my suspension mods are done. Any final thoughts on rubbing, clearance with that combo?

Marcilla, I appreciate all the tips and info on your lift. Both kits look good. How did you decide you wanted to go with the Tema 4x4 product? I just took a stab at it and went with the metal one. But while I was following this thread, I had to chuckle bc my experience was the same with long delays from Russia. In the end, they arrived and look a-okay.

 

Looks like they aren’t for sale on amazon anymore for gen 2. Anyone have another source?
