Intake resonator bladder delete?

I wouldn't be playing with it. The Mass Airflow Meter and sensor(s) likely depend on them in place, unless you know how to re-map them.

The charcoal filter is an emissions requirement and definitely shouldn't be removed.



With the muffler, it incorporates a 2 way exhaust system, so that would need to be kept in mind with a replacement.

I don't think it'll hurt, removing everything up to the air filter. Not my cup of tea though.

 

Except that the Mass Airflow Meter is calibrated for the environment it's in, as is the Temperature sensor in there too. Besides the legality - not sure if his state does emissions checks?

 

MAF sensor is downstream of the engine air filter, so would removal of the intake air snorkel/resonator matter? Not sure.

Is there an intake air temp sensor? I know on 3rd gen there's a ambient air temp sensor, down low, in front of the radiator and AC evaporator. But that's nowhere near the intake air circuit.

Still, I'd see no reason to do something like this.

 

There is; it's built into the MAF sensor. Really, it's the part of the MAF sensor that's easy to see. You have to peer into it really hard to see the wires used for sensing the actual MAF.

I don't see that as a problem, though. I don't really expect the OP is going to hurt anything much, just lose the benefit of having the resonators helping force charge into the cylinders when the valves open.

The sound will be nice and growly though.

 

MAF sensor is in the Filter casing, and the baffles, I would assume would be to direct air around it and the Temp sensor (yes there is one).



The Charcoal filter may not affect the running - but is there for compliance reasons.

 

The MAF meter should sort itself out regardless of what's before it.
