Hello all. I have an admirably performing 2007 with 150k on it. Relatively new Mich. defender t + h currently, but ideally would like another set of wheels with winters on them. I found this local set in 185 65 15 and the guy says they were mounted on a 2007 corolla. The tire sizes are the same, are the wheels compatible between a prius and corolla? $400 for a set of x Ice and wheels a good deal? Also is there a good way to check tread, maybe if I found a micrometer in the garage I wouldn't have to buy anything?
If they have good tread depth left and aren't very old, yes. If you were to buy steel wheels, they would likely be about $50 each, and the tires if at least 2/3 depth are worth $50 each. I would offer $350. An easy way - take a tongue depressor or similar stick, put in the tread away from a wear bar, scribe the stick where it leaves the tread (with a sharp scribe or very sharp pencil or even a pocket knife), the remove the stick and measure the distance from the end of the stick to the mark. That's your tread depth. Measure this in at least two places on all four tires - if they were run in one position the tires from the front will be worn more. From the photos, they look to have good tread depth. Edit - Tire Rack price for this package new is $714.60
I recently needed to price new steel wheels, they were $63 each at Discount tire. And a Corolla wheel sounds ideal. https://www.discounttiredirect.com/buy-wheels/liquid-metal-atom
Great price... Go for it!!! Gas mileage won't be so good but that's the least of your worries in the town you listed as "Desolation Row." Heard its solid ice all Winter... Glad you aren't the like the nervous nellies in the PNW lowlands who ruin our roads with snow tires on all Winter even when it's rare to get even one snow storm a year and almost no opportunity for long term ice.
FYI, if you wanna know how rough the town the original poster lives in: They're selling postcards of the hanging, they're painting the passports brown The beauty parlor is filled with sailors, the circus is in town Here comes the blind commissioner, they've got him in a trance One hand is tied to the tight-rope walker, the other is in his pants And the riot squad they're restless, they need somewhere to go As Lady and I look out tonight, from Desolation Row Cinderella, she seems so easy, "It takes one to know one, " she smiles And puts her hands in her back pockets Bette Davis style And in comes Romeo, he's moaning. "You Belong to Me I Believe" And someone says, "You're in the wrong place, my friend, you'd better leave" And the only sound that's left after the ambulances go Is Cinderella sweeping up on Desolation Row Now the moon is almost hidden, the stars are beginning to hide The fortune telling lady has even taken all her things inside All except for Cain and Abel and the hunchback of Notre Dame Everybody is making love or else expecting rain And the Good Samaritan, he's dressing, he's getting ready for the show He's going to the carnival tonight on Desolation Row Ophelia, she's 'neath the window for her I feel so afraid On her twenty-second birthday she already is an old maid To her, death is quite romantic she wears an iron vest Her profession's her religion, her sin is her lifelessness And though her eyes are fixed upon Noah's great rainbow She spends her time peeking into Desolation Row Einstein, disguised as Robin Hood with his memories in a trunk Passed this way an hour ago with his friend, a jealous monk Now he looked so immaculately frightful as he bummed a cigarette And he when off sniffing drainpipes and reciting the alphabet You would not think to look at him, but he was famous long ago For playing the electric violin on Desolation Row Dr. Filth, he keeps his world inside of a leather cup But all his sexless patients, they're trying to blow it up Now his nurse, some local loser, she's in charge of the cyanide hole And she also keeps the cards that read, "Have Mercy on His Soul" They all play on the penny whistles, you can hear them blow If you lean your head out far enough from Desolation Row Across the street they've nailed the curtains, they're getting ready for the feast The Phantom of the Opera in a perfect image of a priest They are spoon feeding Casanova to get him to feel more assured Then they'll kill him with self-confidence after poisoning him with words And the Phantom's shouting to skinny girls, "Get out of here if you don't know" Casanova is just being punished for going to Desolation Row" At midnight all the agents and the superhuman crew Come out and round up everyone that knows more than they do Then they bring them to the factory where the heart-attack machine Is strapped across their shoulders and then the kerosene Is brought down from the castles by insurance men who go Check to see that nobody is escaping to Desolation Row Praise be to Nero's Neptune, the Titanic sails at dawn Everybody's shouting, "Which side are you on?!" And Ezra Pound and T.S. Eliot fighting in the captain's tower While calypso singers laugh at them and fishermen hold flowers Between the windows of the sea where lovely mermaids flow And nobody has to think too much about Desolation Row Yes, I received your letter yesterday, about the time the doorknob broke When you asked me how I was doing, was that some kind of joke All these people that you mention, yes, I know them, they're quite lame I had to rearrange their faces and give them all another name Right now, I can't read too good, don't send me no more letters no Not unless you mail them from Desolation Row Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Bob Dylan
Yes. The 2007 Prius wheels are 6Jx15 ET45 It has a width of 6 inches and a diameter of 15 inches. The ET45 shows that these wheels have a positive offset of 45mm. The bolt pattern is 5x100. A bolt circle of 5x100 would indicate a 5-lug pattern on a circle with a diameter of 100mm. Tread size is M12 x 1.5. indicates [stud diameter] x [thread size]. Both are measured in millimeters Center bore 54.1 The size of the hole in the center of a wheel. It is measured in millimeters. The 2007 corolla has steel wheels with all numbers identical. I personally bought a set of steel wheels for mounting snow tires from a 2004 Volkswagen Jetta for a total $50/set. It has 6Jx15 ET47, 5x100, but different thread size M14 x 1.5 so I bought a second set of bolts for $20 and the center bore is 57.1 so I bought a set of 4 center bore adapters from 57.1 to 54.1 for $10/set. Brand new snow tires Blizzak WS80 for $340. Total for everything $420. I enjoy them the past 2 winters. The Prius with the snow tires drives better than my Honda CRV AWD with all weather tires in ice and snowed roads.
Good idea that's cheap and good little investment. Just try to do it the right way without guessing. These are still available I hope to look at them next week. Been busy, maybe he can come down a bit on price.
I'm using Corolla rims with snow tires, on my 2010. Here's the info I've got: Corolla steel rim, part no: 42611-02471 (2003-2008 corolla or matrix, CE, LS, S) I got them through a dealership as part of a snow tire package. The rims were $70 (CDN) apiece, in late fall of 2010. Appeared to be brand new. And I used these lug nuts, though open ended, the studs show rusty. A smidge of oil helps with that: steel rim lug nuts, part no: 90942-01007 (plain, open-ended, galvanized) Also, I found 2" ABS end caps make a decent centre cap. They're slightly loose, so I cut a "rubber band off an old bicycle inner tube, push that on like a gasket, then tap the cap over that. Holds it well.
