[First forum post] Many years ago we bought a new 2012 Prius which today is still running strong at 145,000 miles. We recently decided that its reliability would eventually become problematic some day, and we would be better off selling it while it still is in excellent condition, both mechanical and cosmetic.

Our good experience with the 2012 made getting a new Prius our first choice, although we did look at many other hybrids. Mid-September is my usual time to replace cars, getting the outgoing models just as the new cars are on the lot. Discounts are often good this time of year, so we looked at the 2019s. We wanted the XLE trim package, but they are only available locally with the AWD-e package. My wife (who is the primary driver of the Prius) really wanted a Prius in the hard-to-find color Sea Glass Pearl. Unfortunately, the only XLEs locally available were only minimally discounted and also the wrong color.

Apparently the planets were in alignment yesterday, because not only did we find an XLE in her preferred color with the black interior, but we also got car deeply discounted. We never had traction problems here in New England with her 2012 Prius, so we didn't need the AWD-e package, but we're happy to have it. Toyota is offering a $2,000 discount now, and the dealer took off an additional $2,600, for a final $4,600 off list. This was the dealer's first offer, which we accepted without further discussion. We pick up the car soon. It should be a lot of fun figuring out all the programming!

Congratulations! I think that you will find this car a major upgrade on the 2012.

Here it is at the dealer. They're prepping for delivery.

Love the Sea Glass Pearl, but I wanted the Moonstone interior, rather than black.

Not a bad price at all.
I think you might be able to do better on the discounts. I got $6254 off my Limited without even trying to haggle. This was the dealers first offer which I took.

We just got a seaglass pearl with black interior. I've decided I'm done with light colors that show wear, dirt, and staining.

This is why we took the dealer's offer. This is exactly what we wanted at a price lower than what we thought we'd have to pay.
