My 2010 Prius with 115k miles is having an issue with shutting off and losing power while driving, this started happening after having the software recall done a couple of weeks ago. The first time this happened the orange triangle came on with a check engine light, the hybrid system failure also popped up on the display, after a few hundred feet the rest of the warning lights went on and I lost any function of the vehicle, even gas motor and am not able to even get it into neutral (which is completely outrageous). After letting it sit for a couple hours the first time, restarting andit several times and adding fuel the warning lights all went off ( the error code I read was 3190). The issue occured again today when I had my obd reader connected same thing with the same loss of power. I noticed during the first phase of power loss the first inverter will shut off and during the second the second inverter will shut off. From what I've been able to see all the hybrid battery cells still look good, I am thinking possibly a bad fuel pump?? My oil still is relatively clean, although I will change it soon. Any advice would be appreciated.
Bring it back to the dealer to diagnose. It should be free since this all happened after the recall. They usually have a 30 days warranty on their work
I had it towed to the dealer, will have to see what they say this afternoon. I have little faith in them. The oil is at roughly 6700 miles, not too dirty right now but I like to not let it go more than 7-8k on synthetic.
The Prius codes all cleared at the dealer so they thought nothing was wrong with it apparently. I can tell they reflashed the software again, so they told me to take it back if it happens again. I had to coast the last mile home as the issue happened again, glad to see they test drove it -_-
I might be avle to answer ur query tomorrow. I have a 2015 that goes turtle on an hour journey uphill. The problem is that the engine doesnt rev that high. No check engine, no codes just a turtle with 3 bars on traction battery. I ll confirm my results tomorrow and let u know Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
The engine was sounding even less than at 2000 rpm. U can hear a bit on the vdo. Otherwise obd fusion app Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
At standstil the engine can rev 2777 rpm, at 25 km/h it's around 3200 rpm. No idea what 8500 feet of altitude do to the engine.
Does this happens, when the vehicle has being driven, or reached operating temperatures? When it stalls, does it immediately start-up, or you'd have to allowed the car cool down?
