Thank you for the photos. Mine isn't as bad as that yet so I will change the pcv and see if that is good enough. If not, I will investigate the oil catch can (y)

I have the catch can but in black, how is yours attached? I'm looking to do this as I've got a P0420 bad catalyst code. I've switched out the PCV but the catalyst looks pretty new so I'm assuming it's been replaced and re-poisoned. My other thought is engine mounts but OCC is the easy fix

You guys really need to stop hijacking this thread and start your own one to discuss your maintenance issues.

This thread is for those that have reached 200,000 miles to post information about their ownership experience.

Well getting us back on topic here is my mileage, just hit a nice round number. I apologise for the diversion and I've taken your advice and set up a catch can thread here:

    Hi everyone!

Introducing myself. I've lurked for several years now deciding to register as my Prius crosses 200k. It's actually closing in on 208k. Amazing.

I have done some work to this Prius and has had a full bill of dealer only service from the previous owner. It came with a refurbished hybrid battery that's been good to me so far. I do most of my own work and have replaced the HV water pump, shocks and struts and put on a custom 2 inch hitch for my 1up rack. I've run them all on 5w30 mobil 1 despite seeing some people going to 0w20. I run 80k intervals on trans axle fluid. I'm hoping this one takes me to 300k.

This is my third gen 2 Prius. first one was totaled at 150k, other one I gave to my sister at 125k. all ran strong with regular maintenance. they regularly got over 45mpg combined with one of them averaging 52.

    Hi all:

My name is Peter and I am from Northern NJ. I have admired the Prius cars for a long time. Beginning of August, I found a new-to-me 2006 Prius from a nearby Seller. Car had dead HV and 12V batteries. Seller was at the Toyota dealership with the car where they told them that it would cost at least $4000 for HV battery and labor. At that point, they listed the car on CL and ultimately I purchased it for $950. I got a hold of a battery reconditioner from Brooklyn who replaced the HV battery with a reconditioned battery and used 12V battery for $900 total. Once, I got the Prius running I found that I had a P1121 code. I then purchased a Toyota Coolant Flow Control Valve off of ebay for $80 and installed that. Interior was a real sh*t show. So I vacuumed and shampooed the carpet after taking out front seats.

Now, I have what appears to be a pretty reliable car. Current issues:

    1.) One TPMS sensor failed (all tires are properly inflated);

    2.) Airbag light is on (I ordered the dongle and Techstream - upon receipt I should be able to figure this out);

    3. One tire has a slow leak where the tire loses about 1/2PSI per day (I purchased an aftermarket TPMS with external sensors that provides the exact PSI for each tire in real time);

    4. I have a Aston Innovations SoundTek A2+ being delivered today. This item should allow me to connect my cell through bluetooth to the Prius stereo system (AUX port). In addition, I have an Arkon Car or Truck Seat Rail or Floor Tablet Mount with 22 inch Arm. This tablet mount will mount under the passenger side LF seat bolt.

Glad I found this thread. When I purchased the Prius it had 200,500 miles. Today, my Prius has a little more than 203,000. Any tips on what service I need on a used Prius with more than 200k miles (and almost no service records).

Hello and welcome to the club! I purchased a 2007 with 175K on it in July 2017. I now have almost 220K miles on it. I have had good fortune to buy mine from an original owner who maintained, but not over-maintained the car. I right away changed the engine oil, transmission fluid, spark plugs.

Hi All, I got 10 Prius before this summer on 234k. During the summer I used the oil in it and there was no oil burning and mpg was about 50, but after I changed the oil (before winter) with Mobil 1 F.S High Mileage, it burned some oil and mpg is around 44-45, 40 for very cold days. For the next time, I am planning to use Mobil 1 F.S ExtendedHigh Mileage.
Also changed the transaxle fluid, which was so dark. Other than these, no issue appeared so far.

Until this morning, I had a 2009 Touring edition that had gotten to 204600 miles. My daughter was in urgent need of a car, having totalled hers (low bar for being declared totalled, it was a 2011 Versa) plus I was getting fed up with the lousy front HID headlights. The Versa's were just as bad, so at least it isn't a downgrade.
    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack?
No. My mechanic told me last week it was in good shape because I drive the car so much.
    2) Did you replace the 12v lead-acid battery?
    Twice, at 106k and 180k.
    3) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid?
Twice, thanks to the instructions posted on this forum, at 151k and at 203k
    4) Did you replace the brake pads?
Front pads and rotors at 150k, front pads again at 195k, and the front rotors need replacing. I live in New England, salt on the roads.
    5) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?
Not sure about lifetime, but the most recent couple of fill-ups were around 43. Goes up during the summer to 46-47. I like to throw in a bottle of Techron every 5000 miles or so.
    6) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use?
I went by the intervals recommended in the manual, did not do these myself. Mostly Pennzoil, then Pennzoil high mileage. A few changes with synthetic, but when I go to the dealership they REFUSE to use synthetic even though I'd be giving them more $$.
    7) How about post a picture of 200,000 miles on ODO?
    Too late.
    8. Replaced spark plug at 130k. May or may not have needed it
    9. Coolant flush at 125k, then had the coolant flow control valve with coolant change at 151k
    10. PCV valve changed at 136k
    11. Serpentine belt also changed at 136k

I was hoping to get it to 250,000. Maybe my daughter will.
Now looking at AWD Prius vs Tesla Model 3 long range AWD. Hard to get over paying nearly double the price for a Tesla...

2009 Prius, Package 5, 2nd owner, bought at ~165k miles. Currently ~245k miles. But just had issues crop up yesterday (I have a post in the troubleshooting forum waiting on moderation). Sucks because I have twins on the way and I was about to start working on selling this.

    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack?
I have not, and no idea if previous owner did.
    2) Did you replace the 12v lead-acid battery?
No, but issues that cropped up yesterday may result in doing that imminently
    3) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid?
Didn't even know that was possible. Might do that before selling, we'll see what it takes to fix the car.
    4) Did you replace the brake pads?
No, the looked pretty new when I bought the car and there's no indication they're anywhere close to needing replacement at this time
    5) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?
44.09 MPG, I use the app "Mileage" from Evan Charlton - last updated in 2012 so it may not be available for download on newer devices
    6) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use?
    Every 5000 miles, Mobil 1 Synthetic 5W-30
    7) How about post a picture of 200,000 miles on ODO?
Maybe if I dig through Google Photos, not sure if I took one

So I hit 6 2's yesterday in my 2007 Prius. I already posted the answers to the seven questions, but I'll do it again for this occasion.

I have purchased this car in July 2017 with 175K miles on it from an original owner.

    1) Did you replace the HV battery pack? - NO (as far as I know it's an original battery)
    2) Did you replace the 12v lead-acid battery? - YES. I replaced it with a Bosch unit from Pep Boys in 2018
    3) Did you replace the hybrid transaxle fluid? - YES. I replaced it as soon as I bought the car and I believe it was its first change
    4) Did you replace the brake pads? - YES. I replaced the front pads and rotors because the slide pins got dry and caused uneven wear to pads and rotors. If the pins were properly lubricated the brakes would last another 60K miles or so. This was a second set. Now it has a third set with properly lubricated slide pins.
    5) Your lifetime MPG (if available)?- 45 MPG since the day I bought it.
    6) How often do you change your oil? What brand / product did you use? Every 5K, I use Mobile 1 synthetic for high mileage cars 5W30
    7) How about post a picture of 200,000 miles on ODO? - Attached

Hello everyone! My beloved 2012 Prius, aka Judas Prius, just hit 200,500. I’ve noticed a slight decrease in power and mpg, but, knock on wood, it’s a champ of a car and will get me safely back to NY by March. I’m always diligent about the oil changes, and I had the spark plugs, air filter, brakes and rotors done for the first time since I’ve had the car. Had it for two years, put 80,000 miles on it in that time! It’s my second Prius. Hoping to make it to 300,000!

    1) In the process ordered a kit from newpriusbatteries possibly refurbished by previous owner. I had it for 4 years. cells are dated 2006
    2) I have replaced the 12v battery once
    3) replaced the fluid in the transaxle once when I bought the car
    4) replaced the pads and disks at 230k miles. i believe they were original
5)44.2mpg since I started tracking this year.
    6) every 4-5k or it starts consuming it quickly. supertech 5w-30 full synthetic and supertech filter( Camry filter)

oh and I'm new here!t a great source of Prius diy knowledge it is much appreciated.

I have a 2006 Prius at 230,040 last time that I looked. It just yesterday had two codes for the HV battery, still trying to determine if that is really the HV battery or if it is the 12v. I replaced the 12v twice before. They seem to last 4-6 years on average. Had to replace a water pump, and the wiring harness (that was due to pack rat damage access to the garage is now denied to pack rats) paid for by my insurance company. If the HV battery needs work, trying to decide whether to get a new one, a rebuilt one, or get someone to help me replace cells. I use synthetic oil, and change it roughly every10k. It has been THE MOST TROUBLE FREE CAR that I have EVER OWNED!

PS I replaced my antenna on my own, damage was due to an unfortunate impact with my garage door, OOPS! But thanks to Priuschat I was able to do it myself and save about $125.

I forgot I had the brakes done at 196,000.
