BigBilly, or anyone with lower profile tires. How do you notice the ride comfort and cabin noise to be when going with a lower profile tire to make up for larger rims...? I am hoping to go to a 16" or 17" wheel but I'm a little apprehensive about noise level from a lower profile tire. Thanks in advance for any opinions, much appreciated.

First, go with a 17", you'll be happy you did.

Your question is EXTREMELY tire specific, meaning choose the right tire and it could be quieter than OE, choose the wrong tire & it will not be good.

I personally love my General (made/owned by Continental Tire) G-Max AS-05's in 205/50-17 (19.2 lbs) mounted on a 17x7" that weighs 17.0 lbs.

The two choices that you won't go wrong with are:

    1) Yokohama AVID Ascend GT in a 205/50-17

    2) General G-Max AS-05 in a 205/50-17

    Thank you !

Buy tire #1 if you want to "slightly" lean towards quiet/comfort.

Buy tire #2 if you want more dry grip, tire noise will be close to OE sound.

Both choices are INCREDIBLY BETTER than the OE tires....

Does anyone know about this wheel and whether it would fit a Prime? I can't find a weight figure for it but apparently it's forged, so it should be fairly light.

I first saw the wheel a couple of days ago on a (likely 2017) FRS (now called the 86) and it looked danged good.

    Yep, sure do....

First, they will fit & work great.

    Specs: 17x7.5", ET 43, 5x100, ~18.5 lbs, HB 56.1

The only recommended item you should get is the 56.1 to 54.1 hub rings.

Rob43, thanks for the info. It's the look I've been searching for for quite awhile — 15 spokes and flat-faced — but unfortunately I'll have to cross it off my list because at ~18.5 lbs it's just too heavy, especially for a forged wheel. Do you remember where you got the weight spec? And come to think of it, 7.5" is probably too wide for good fuel consumption. Oh well; the search continues...

    That's too bad...

As a performance wheel purchase, they would have been great ! But as a fuel economy purchase, they'd be only fair.

The weight was pulled from another car forum where the poster bought the wheels and weighed them with the tpms installed. As an OE wheel, they're Very light weight...

I will tell you that my personal setup makes for an Extremely Enjoyable performance daily driver when compared to the Toyota OE 15" tire & wheels.

    Post 16 & 17.

Later I added a set of 5mm spacers, this gives the appearance/illusion of a 215/45-17 setup.

Those Winners are 17x7 I assume. How much do they weigh?

    Yep, 17x7, 17.0 lbs, ET40, 5x100, HB 73.1; Typical cost is somewhere around $105 to $112 each.

You'll need 73.1 to 54.1 hub rings & Tuner (smaller diameter) conical/60 degree lug nuts, I bought ET lug nuts because I knew in advance that I was going to use 5mm spacers.

I'd recommend either of the tires I mentioned a few posts above...

How is the fuel economy comparison to stock? I’m about to put these on my 2017 and am curious.

Hey @ConfusedBirdie - I would say I have reduced the fuel economy about 5-10%. I track my MPGs via an app between fill ups and I use to get 50-55MPGs and the last 2 fill ups were between 45-50 MPGs. My commute (~8 miles) has gotten significantly less since I got a new job so fuel economy has become less of a priority for me so I don't really care and the looks out weigh the loss for me specifically. Hope that helps.

I don't have a Prime, but wanted to thank Rob43 for his advice
I pulled the trigger on the General G-max AS-05 225/45R17 (21 lb) and Konig Ampliform 17x8 40mm offset (17.85 lb)
