hello, is safe to buy or import prius from japan, how safe is it,some body can share the experience, thanks
welcome! the biggest issue is finding someone to repair them, and understanding japanese. don't they have u/k prius?
No, every Gen4 sold in the USA was assembled here. I'm pretty sure all 2015 Gen3s as well. +5mpg for posting
I think @ikram's question was about importing a used vehicle from Japan, and the related issues of servicing, import formalities, user interface language, and the like, not about the country of origin. That’s not correct. All fourth-generation Prius and Prius Prime cars sold in the U.S. were made at Toyota’s Tsutsumi and Takaoka plants in Japan; see the VIN decoder sheets filed with NHTSA. There were some made in China in a joint venture with FAW, and some assembled in Thailand from CKD kits, in both cases for sale only in those markets.
Are there country specific requirements in the UK? In the US there are strict emissions requirements and so importing a car not intended for this market is often a huge problem.
