I do not, but I would make a warranty claim on it and see if the dealer will fix it for you. That is not normal wear and tear - normal use of a steering wheel for two-three years should not result in that.

You don't happen to wear a mobster pinky ring on that hand, do you?

Do you have a sunshade on the windshield when the car is parked in the sun?

I would start with the warranty claim.

Edit - do you regularly use the heated wheel feature in the winter?

That rules out solar damage for the most part. I have a 2018 Premium, and the steering wheel looks like the day it was new.

Ever use sun block and touch the wheel?

    That’s been reported here before.

Sun block usage? Would this be a problem with other steering wheels? I'll search other posts you've said were reported on Priuschat. Thx.

Yes, definitely try to catch it on warranty...

Best I can recall, I don’t think the steering-wheel reaches up that high.

A friend reported the same thing with their Prime. It took a little work with the dealer but his steering wheel was replaced under warranty. Make sure you get it documented as soon as possible with the dealer.

Have a very similar issue. I took it to the dealer when the car was 3 months old. They told me that Toyota corporate would have to decide whether or not it was a warranty issue. Corporate came back and said it was not a warranty issue. So I’m just stuck with it.

I like the car just fine. But frankly I think this will be my last Toyota (my last 6 cars have been Toyotas) not just for this but for other policies of Toyota

I've seen several Gen 2's with steering wheels in horrible condition; a former co-worker had one in very poor condition. I've always thought it was a reaction to some chemical transferred by the hands.

It’s just wear and tear (our Gen 2 was worn after 240,000km but still operable. Nothing was peeling but you could tell it’s not a black steering wheel but one with grey or white spots).

SofTex is just wrapped over the base polyurethane steering wheel. It has been reported on PriusChat that the SofTex wheels on the Gen 4/Prime seem to wear out faster particularly if the heating function is used regularly.

Yea, I do, I think, at 9 O'clock. I can feel it, but I'm not looking yet. And I hope it's just me and not really real.
Anyways the car was in the bodyshop for 2 days getting only work that wasn't on the original work order.
When I was notified that there were some changes to the work order, I got real confused like. Charging more money and doing
a less expensive repair of the damage on the work order and no documentation of the new work. Hey What you say?

Should be covered under warranty? Wear and tear after two years and only 10K miles?!

What I say is that you are confusing me. Are you saying that you can feel damage on your steering wheel, but you are not going to actually look at it? Just close your eyes and the problem doesn't exist?
