I started to think if I did something wrong, as the dipstick of the OCC shows nothing after 1k mile. So next time I put the new shiny gasket I got to the cooler-exhaust end, I will check the can itself..

I have posted my OCC bracket solution quite awhile ago on this thread. So here is a refresher. Nearly 40K miles since install, the bracket has held up. (y)

Those airplane clamps are 1/4" socket size, IIRC. little mini-ratchet, makes removal easy.

No need to tighten, just drop the OCC housing into the bracket.

I ended up adopting Bay Stater's mount location because it is easier to unscrew for cleaning.

So glad the job is done and now my hands and lungs (really hit the egr circuit and manifold hard with brake cleaner) can start healing!

Edit: I should also mention that I used 99% pure sodium percarbonate to clean out the EGR cooler. This is the active ingredient in Oxiclean. Just follow the same steps that you normally would:

    1. Fill the end of the cooler furthest from the long coolant pipe with 2-3 tablespoons of sodium percarbonate
    2. Duct tape over that end
    3. Flip cooler over and use the long coolant pipe to hang it inside a 5 gallon bucket
    4. Pour boiling water into the cooler until it starts bubbling over
    5. Wait a few hours and repeat as necessary

I also hit it with the high pressure sprayer at the car wash but it didn't work as well as I hoped.

What is this? Something disassembled and then just "parked" there??

    Gotcha! Before I installed it.
That ist the gasket ordered for the exhaust part of the egr and that is the shiniest one, if not the OCC

The first measure after about 4k mile, if someone interested. I expected a bit more, but I'm glad it is not under the throttle body :) IMG_20190907_164345.jpeg 20190907_1645512.jpeg

They tend to accumulate a lot more through winter, maybe double? And it separates: a layer of oil, and a layer (more water-based) that's a lighter cream colour.

    Montreal, Montana, or?

A semi-specific location is helpful to responders. ;)

Btw, I read one of the youtube comments that one guy got full OCC after longer 5-600+miles trips. But I'm sort of happy it is not in my case. or was thinking it is too far from the IM so less efficient.? Probably not. I think his/her case was an exception.

I emptied mine spring and fall, in conjunction with twice yearly oil changes, Spring I'll get about 100 cc, fall it's around 50 cc. The spring drain is about 50/50 oil/water, fall mostly oil.

But, we're only doing about 5000 miles a year, if that.

Quick question for those who’ve installed..

I recieved the Ruien catch can from amazon today but am wondering what all I will need to install it. I plan on mounting it by the driver side (USDM) headlight with the bracket I’ll be recieving from hybridpit this Saturday. I tried digging but my search came up unsuccessful. Thanks in advance, cheers!
