I wouldn't trade the car.... just the dealer. The car's just getting into its stride and the dealer was past its use-before date before you first went there.

Good question on the fuse, and one I can't answer. But we found a new dealer and you can see from the title on my post how we solved the problem. (Now I won't feel like we are constantly waiting for the other high-priced shoe to drop.)

We were considering trading even before the kick-in-the-gut repair quote, but after looking at every comparable car on the market, we still felt that there ARE no comparable cars out there. Once a Prius driver, always a Prius driver! First time with leather seats, though and I'm not wild about them....cold to the tush in February!

To those who were skeptical of the 5000 price quoted by Toyota of the Desert for the MFD central computer replacement, Toyota of San Bernardino's price quote (which they have posted in their finance office) was even higher!

Thank you all for rallying to answer or offer an opinion. That's what makes this forum so great!

Toyota ac is as reliable as any other, probably more than most, so trading to Hundaie won't solve the future problems. I'm sure the basics were checked, like the cabin filter being plugged, and the climate control settings. I think the dealer found a way to help cover their outstanding loan payments in these tough times for Toyota.

I think you should go back to that Dealership ask to speak to the service manager so he can explain in detail why it would cost that much! it's ridiculous and should never happen but service advisors are paid on commission and some of the bad ones take advantage of the elderly and women. the manager should know what his advisor tried to do to you and he should be fired. no excuse for ripping people off.
I was a service manager at a honda dealer for 28 years trust me i fired a few of those bad ones over my years.
