    I got our Prime tinted (all surfaces including the windshield) for $700 out the door:).

    So the back windows you probably get done for $150-200;).

    You could do it yourself for less but run the risk of not doing something right:cool:.

    So I pay a bit more but it looks great and lasts(y).

    Sorry for the hijack!

    I would love to have a set of custom shades like (carshades.co.uk) but so far, there are none for the Gen 4/Prime.

    No worries on the hijack. I've participated in enough of them to not worry about it. :D

    The only real drawback to these shades is that they are held on with suction cups and I can't open those windows with the shades in place.

    Time for a fuel efficiency update. I was going to wait till my next fill-up after the vacation trip, but I don't know how much longer that will be. After filling up on May 25, I've put on 2,018 miles and the gas gauge is sitting exactly at 1/4 tank. It's not as good as the first tank. I filled that up the day before the vacation after having driven 2,280 miles on my first tank and it only took 5.8 gallons. This tank is lower at this point thanks to a 181 mile day we had a few weeks ago. At 79 mpg, that day used about 2-1/4 gallons.

    I'll have to wait & see how much farther I go on this next 1/4 tank. I might be making a trip next week to Alabama. If that happens, I still won't get to find out how far I can commute on one tank. Such a problem!! :LOL::ROFLMAO:

    But I will get to see how it does on the highway with just me and not much luggage as opposed to two of us and the rest of the interior totally full of stuff. (y)

    LOL! It can. The other day I drove a total of one mile and it was over 90F. I got 3.9 m/kWh. :LOL:

    It absolutely can! Try winter in upstate NY - as low as 3 m/kWh! It probably would be even lower if I didn't limit the use of heat.

    Well, it looks like I won't be making that trip to Alabama after all. I was looking forward to a boondoggle. LOL! So, we'll see how much farther this last quarter tank goes. The trip meter is almost up to 2,100 miles now.

    As for the tinting, Todd was pretty busy when I was over there today, but in comparing my windows the the other Gen 4 & Primes on the lot, I guess mine is original. Someday, I might go with the ceramic tint, but I don't want it much darker than what I have now.

    You can get 70 or 80% and you wouldn’t know it’s there:).

    But get 40-50% more heat rejection;).

    I’ve got my battery in mind with that mod (y).

    Yesterday was the 5-month anniversary of getting my "new-to-me" Prime. I just realized that, if not for our 6k mile vacation trip in May, I'd still be on my second tank of gas. Just shy of 2,300 miles so far this tank. The first tank was just over 2,200 miles but I only used 5/8 of a tank due to wanting to start the trip with a full tank. I'm just under 1/4 tank now, so I don't think I'll make it to six months.

    I just filled my PRIME's gas tank for the 43rd time in two years 32kmiles. Your EV ratio must be much higher than mine.

    I've bought gas 23 times in 2 years over 28,673 miles. That's 1,246.65 miles per tank lifetime average. My longest was 4,577 miles on one tank and the shortest was 427 miles.

    Overall, it's only 52% due to the big trip. That trip took 14 tanks and I rarely got to plug in. So far, it accounts for over half my total miles. This tank, it's 87%. The first tank was more like 95%.

    Edit to add: My overall mpg just crawled back up to 82 mpg last time I checked. It was only 77 when we got back from the vacation.

    After almost 5-1/2 months it came time yesterday for my second non-vacation-trip fill up. There were a couple road trips since I last gassed up on May 25, but it's been mostly routine driving.
    • 2,615 miles
    • 265 mpg calculated
    • 342 kWh bought ($39.57)
    • 9.876 gallons bought ($23.30)
    • $62.87 total cost
    • $0.024 cost/mile
    • $157.45 savings vs. 28 mpg car
    As for the new Yokohama Avid GTs, we've had lots of wet roads to test them on lately. We're dumping 3-1/2" or more out of the rain gauge every day. Never a hint of slipping.

    I was wondering if anyone has thought about the long term effects of ethanol in fuel when you going months before fill ups. Ethanol absorbs water like crazy and that’s definitely not good for any engine. The only fuel I can find without ethanol is premium but with such few fill ups needed I think the few extra dollars is worth it for longevity.

    Ethanol is hygroscopic, but when absorbing water from air, it tends to stabilize around 95%. But before moisture in the air can be sucked in by the ethanol, it has to reach the fuel first. A car's gas tank is sealed tighter than the can used for lawnmowers. It could a concern for boats, since the relative humidity is higher, and their tanks can be effectively open to the environment

    Most of the water in fuel comes in as liquid form as rain and snow, when the station's tanks are getting filled.

    Welcome to PC. There has been a lot of discussion on Ethanol-free fuel on this site. DO search you will find all you want to know about it. As for the PRIME driver who uses gas so little, not only the use of ethanol-free gas but also the addition of stabilizer and forced engine turn on is also a hot topic.

    While most people agree that ethanol-free gas is better, it is not very economical to replace E10 gas. In some region, even finding ethanol-free gas is very difficult. For the most part, if your drivings are mostly EV, just pumping a few gallons at a time and try to use it up at least every 6 months will be easier and cheaper than trying to fill the tank with ethanol-free gas, IMOH. I do enough HV drives regularly, the longest stretch I went in between filling the tank was 2 months. Most of the times, I fill my car once a month or more, so I have no worry about using E10 in my car.
