It's a matter of opinion - all the ugly small TwinCab Trucks on our roads make PRIUS look attractive. But they did make a "kind" comment "... But, if you want to save money at the gas pump and reduce your carbon footprint while never having to deal with mechanical failures or other problems, this might be the perfect vehicle ...". Bottom line - PERFECT VEHICLE.
While there are different reasons people buy a Prius, let's be honest....it definitely does not to give you a hard-on or lift the skirts when you drive by.
i think they are struggling to find ugly cars. of course, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but even without a toyota bias, i agree with some, and disagree with others.
I agree too - surely this is better than it's opposition: THIS (even the description below agrees)!! But then - Japan has a lot worse up it's sleeve - try GOOGLING "2019 Kei Car" and click "Images". And these were at the Japan Motor Show 2019 - first is a SUZUKI, 2nd is a TOYOTA 86: NISSAN I think hit the Jackpot with a revision of the JOKE ... woops I meant JUKE:
Probably. In any case, it's a form of well-meaning humor, like a roasting (as opposed to derogatory humor, like the Darwin Awards). Most Prius owners wear it with pride.
That Suzuki looks like an old Jeep FC 150 or FC 170 from the late 50’s through mid 60’s: Jeep Forward Control - Wikipedia It’s interesting what comes back around.
Except for the Rolls, I thought they all had some whimsy to their designs that I kind of liked. As for the Rolls ... I don't want to say he's ugly, but when he was a baby, his momma used to prop him in the corner and feed him with a slingshot.
I just had another look at their list and noticed this there - only 8th - ie 7 "better" than PRIUS: Probably the most impractical vehicle TOYOTA (or anyone) has made in a long time - and the diverse angles, curves etc - mostly going nowhere - the rear is worse, his camera probably said "you've got to be kidding" when he pointed to the back. But from inside - you can't see out if you're sitting in the back, and children can't reach the back door handles. I did find a rear view:
OI expected all 10 to be Toyota / Lexus, and perhaps a Mazda with the big black grill front ends. I recently saw a new Corolla and they "pinched" the taillights for additional ugliness.
Agreed - saw one of these in the flesh today - odd - the big snout and the sharp angles and the undersized slit lights. But then BMW have tried to outdo the big snout: Both make this look conservative:
The gen 4 is a particularly ugly .... It's an ugly car. But -- I will take it one step further and say it's a bad design. IMO -- the 3 was both better looking (still not "good looking") and a better design. Was Toyota trying to make it less "hybrid" looking ? Again -- how many sales do they get from having it obviously a hybrid? Do they lose sales because it's hybrid looking ? I was able to switch over my fleet to Prius -- for the very reason they were a hybrid. Many people buy them personally for the same reason. BTW -- lots of ugly vehicles around. The asian makes are just particularly bad -- I have a couple Lexus in the fleet and most are not attractive
Actually, if you look at the wind tunnel simulations of the different generations, the design of the Gen 4 is especially functional.
