I just purchased a new 2018 Prius Prime this year. I had a 2006 Prius before that recently got side swiped, and ended up getting the newer Prius Prime.

I would like to thank the user robertjackson17 particularly, who also has prius prime. He was so gracious to help me out with many couple of things that I don't know how long would taken me to troubleshoot on my own.

With Rob's help, I did a few modifications on my car, installed the comma.ai to auto drive, installed the beat-sonic to allow the ability for inputting destinations not to be greyed out when driving, added a 3m film on two white components of the steering wheel and dashboard, and changed some settings with carista dongle.

Rob, also let me test drive his car with the comma.ai feature before I purchased it (quite the expensive item to buy, and such a nice gesture). One time when working on my car, we both got an opportunity to test drive a tesla model S which was very nice.

And the ongoing help with getting into changing the firmware of the comma.ai was invaluable.

I hope ppl here, continue to help others, and hopefully I can pay it forward with another.

    Thanks Rob, I appreciate it.

I'll have to be more careful reading, I thought it said "I had a 2006 Prius before that recently got swiped!" Now things would be bad if people are stealing 2006 Prius, especially since we've got one here too.

Back in 2004/2005, it was a great group too. It used to be that we'd wave to other Prius drivers, and we had a little car show over in Tampa where several great people showed up. There was also PriusOnline back then, not that PriusChat isn't great now of course.

Some of the same people are still here, john1701a, bwilson4web, and I'm thinking many more I'm not mentioning at the moment.

The Prius Technical Stuff forum (if it is called that, it is with email), is also pretty good, with people such as Lee Hart and Hobbit and several others there too.

One somewhat independent guy was Richard Factor, who worked on using the GenII Prius as a UPS:

@shimsha2005 You're welcome. I always enjoy getting together with you to learn from each other and improve our cars. And the comma.ai system is just so cool!

@sub3marathonman Funny thing about waving to other Prius owners... When my wife returned home from one of her first drives in our Prime, she told me about her really strange experience of being at an intersection where another Prime owner was excitedly waving to her. Also happened to me once on a long drive last winter.

Congrats on the purchase (from a fellow Torontonian) and I agree, PC is a great community with lots of knowledgeable and friendly people. I also had a 2006 and intended to wait for the Prime to replace it, but needed major repairs in 2016 (I drive a lot), so I ended up picking up a used PiP instead. However, the mileage is starting to creep up again and the car is 5 years old now, so thinking of moving to the 2020 Prime at some point in the next year or so. We’ll see!

Hi Shimsa2005! Over the years, I have joined many a chat forum for various things, only to eventually quit them. Most of the other forums were full of people who considered themselves right on everything and never wrong. And I would spend more time "defending my position" than enjoying the forum. I haven't had that issue here at Priuschat. Most of us have learned to dissagree, only to find out as time passes, that the other person was correct! What is even better, I have seen Priuschat members admit when they were wrong! Prius owners are a unique breed of people. We like a sporty looking car that is affordable, and that is what the Prius is to us.

    Because of Priuschat:
    • I Installed awesome two-tone seat covers
    • Got my windows tinted
    • Installed the wood trim look to my interior
    • Ditched the boring looking stock wheel covers
    • Installed chrome trim to my stock rims
    • Installed the center caps for my stock rims
    • Installed the spin-on oil filter assembly
    • Installed leather trim on all four door rest and middle glove box
    • Visited Hybridpit in Buena Park a few times- (If ever in So Cal in Orange County, you gotta meet these guys!)
    • And went to a car meet for some Korean BBQ!
    What's next for me?
    • The Red Bullet! (You don't know what that is?, type it in the search bar and turn into a power demon)
    • Injen intake

I have met some awesome people in here from all over the world! So, in summary, I think you will find this chatroom fun and full of information regarding your car. The coolest spots for me are the guys with the head unit upgrades, suspension work (air suspension seems to be the most expensive) and custom rims.

    Happy to have you here!!
