I am trying to use voice recognition to search for directions to a destination. Can this be done? I have a 2016 Prius 3 touring. Voice recognition has no idea what I am saying and when I use a destination search it says no data?

You may be trying to search by Bing search on Entune instead of the native navigation's search.

After pressing the "voice" button on the steering wheel, say "navigate to an address" or "search for an address" or do a two-step process - "navigation" then wait for the prompts then "address"

Entune voice recognition sucks! Seriously it’s terrible. Every time I try it passengers in my car laugh! If I do get a response it’s always a dead end. So I go to my iphone and ask Siri, it always gives proper direction. You have to wait for the. Toyota/entune/whatever to connect, so be patient.

There is a method of teaching your NAV unit your voice and also learning the best method of asking for help. Didn't make a lot of difference for me, but that might help.

The Voice Command system is described in Pages 133 to 143 of the Navigation System Manual. The manual doesn't contain a complete list of available voice commands. Neither did the manual for our Gen 2 Prius, but I have a list (attached) that works for Gen 2 (can't remember where I got it). I assume the list for Gen 4 would contain the same commands and then some. I hope this helps.

Yes, I’ve done this several times. It’s still terrible.

I would have to be a coder to understand this list

Hopefully, formatting the file will make a difference. The 2nd column contains an alternate command that can be used to accomplish the same task as the command in the 1st column. There are a total of 228 different Navigation commands, for which there are 132 alternates, 44 Audio commands, with 32 alternates, and 49 Climate commands, with 24 alternates.

As you have noted, the voice commands are something worse than terrible. Like a previous commenter, my passengers and I get a good laugh at some of the replies to plain voice commands. I walked through the "train the voice" process, and it is still worthless.
