Hi all, I have a 2015 toyota prius c 2 gen with 50k miles. When driving say doing 55 mph for example when i let my foot off the gas the car starts to revv higher but not go any faster. Its quite annoying and just recently changed all air filters and cleaned fan near battery. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

check the 12v health. check the oil level. what was the state of the hybrid battery when it happened?

what is the history of the car?

Well, letting your foot off the gas usually means you don't want to go faster, so I'm not sure why it would be annoying to not go faster then.

The car is designed to behave similarly to other cars, and have a bit of drag when your foot is off the gas. It makes the "drag" by harvesting energy. Under certain conditions, the car's management of the energy coming in will involve the engine revving up. It is not using fuel when it does that. The usual conditions for that would be on either a long or a steep downhill, but you haven't said much about the conditions where you're noticing it.

The car drove smoothly when i got it at 30k miles, i also notice it lags when i step on the gas. When i take foot off it revvs high. Not sure why but dwf isnt normal

My car does this when the interior cabin is super hot (say from sitting all day and the car hasn't cooled off yet), or it's super hot outside and the battery fan is working overtime to keep cool.

Mine does the same. I never noticed it until I moved back to Florida

It almost sounds like B mode but if it is related to hot climate your battery will die quick in hot climates. This is why I run my AC to feet so it reaches the battery fan intake and run my battery fan speed on 6 with my scan gauge. It keeps the temps down in the heat and will help keep reliability high.
