Check my recent posts in this thread. I'm driving an '05 Gen-2. My crummy-bad mileage averages 50-mpg. The first things I would check in this circumstance would be air-filter and spark-plugs.

    ... But hey ... that's just me.

it depends on the around town. if it is a few stops, that would be best. if it is congested city driving with tons of traffic and stop and go, the highway might be better.

best to experiment with each way by resetting your trip meter and looking at mpgs upon arrival.

5 miles isn't a bad trip in decent weather, when it's really cold the engine will take longer to warm up, hurting gas mileage

corolla is a nice car, and we recommend them to people who can only afford older cars, don't diy, don't have a lot of money for repairs, don't have a hybrid mechanic available, and people who don't drive much

I think that if I was only driving once a week, but still occasionally taking road trips, I'd go with a Corolla.

When i was young the song came out "I can't drive 55" Inspired by California mandating a state wide max speed limit on freeways.
I topped my tank off two days ago. Had driven 188 Mi. According to my calculator i averaged 55 MPG for both city and highway. still getting used to the display thingy. Thank you Prius
