When I bought my Spark EV, I had to send all kinds of documents to Carvana, so they wouldn't charge me sales tax.

Until it’s law it will bounce, Wisconsin’s fees moved 3 times then half the law isn’t enforced, now a year later they want to jack up fees again, makes me wish I could prepay 5 years of registrations to avoid the chaos for a little while.

Really Needs to be binary opposition to laws passed for the wrong reasons using very flawed logic

It went from $1000 extra to $100 extra. ICE cars are now $148 (up from $98). So EVs are $148 plus $100.

The gas tax is now $0.38. Compared to a 50 mpg Prius traveling 12K miles per year...that is 240 gallons or $91.
    Not too out of line.

Areas without significant charging infrastructure have a lot of sub 5000 mile annual traveling EVs

    Cars like This
    https://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/detail/629052841/overview/

Are extremely common in the EV world.

What makes it worse are the areas with the worst weather that most need infrastructure usually have minimal to no infrastructure.

When surveyed EVs fall into an upside down bell curve distribution with a lot of very low mile units with a handful at the extreme high end

Using “average” to such a distribution penalizes many while giving a free pass to a few “extreme users”

    I will stick with the
It’s not worth blaming road funding issues on a few thousand BEV sales, they shouldn’t be taxed outside California until major infrastructure changes occur

I was thinking how the Sable could easily do less that 5000 miles in year with our use.

I’ve been seeing more posts like this one (below)

Many normal EVs have significant enough limitations that people can and do have their decisions influenced by “fair” taxation, I saw it with several IMIEV owners after the Wisconsin tax passed and now am seeing coming from owners in other areas.
