    at 100k miles we unloaded our 9yr old hybrid suv Lexus. No burning oil, no gasket leaks, no loss of EPA Stated range arrange due to traction pack capacity ... and leather in better condition than the one year-old Tesla. Alignment issues? Ongoing from day one ... tsb fix did nothing. So we ate up 2x as many tires as we should have. Others had the same issue.

    Checked the gen3 forum? Don't know about oil burning, but EGR clogging is a known issue of the model.

    Before I settled on a 2008 Prius, I recall being told to avoid the 2010s due to oil burning issues. It's only for 2010s for some reason.

    Sure glad I sold my 2010 at the 8 year point. It had low miles, and I never had the oil burn problem, but after 5 recalls (by far the most I've ever seen in any car) I was glad to move on. Overall, I think it served me exceptionally well, but at the same time I thought it might be a ticking time bomb of future problems. I plan on moving my Prime to a new owner before 8 years is up.

    I talked with a customer at work today after I noticed her Gen3 type key fob. Her 2012 Gen3 has 312K miles on it. She had bought it used with 280K on the ODO. Her only maintenance other than a few oil changes was a new set of spark plugs, and as far as she could tell, it was the first set of those in the car's lifetime. I guess there's exceptions, and hers was an exceptional model and year. Her next vehicle will be a RAV4h.

    In my 2010 3Gen, i've done an EGR cleaning once (last year) and is now burning less than 100ml per 1000km (at 207kkm, that's 128k miles).
    My other Toyota, a 1993 Carina E 1.6 is burning 600ml+ per 1000km (now at 498kkm, that's 309k miles).
    TBH, I do see a 3Gen as a great car, EGR vs not having belt water pump issues like the 2Gen
