I'm debating on holding out for a 2020 Prime so in the process of "researching" options. Would really love to see the wheels on the Prime!

Sounds good to me! Gives me time to find a replacement set of OEM wheels and tires for the 2012 Prius. Then when the 2020 comes these Performance plus wheels are going on ASAP!

Take your OE 15" wheels n tires off the 2020 Prime & put them on the 2012. My only thought would be brake caliper clearance, but if I member correctly, the non-performance version of your chassis came with a 15" wheel.

I took a photo of my car today right next to a Prius Prim so the cars were in the same picture at the same distance. I then copied the wheels from my car and pasted exactly where they would fit on the new prius. Looks good!

Well I couldn't wait so I picked up a 2019 Prime Advanced. Swapped the wheels and tires over and couldn't be happier! Car looks and performs so much better. Feels planted and I'm not noticing any decrease in MPG.

    1.) They are Toyota Performance Plus 17" forged wheels which are 17" x 7" x 43mm.
2.) Weight per wheel is 19-20lbs
    3.) Tire size is 215/45/17
4.) Running Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+ which weigh 23lbs each.
5.) Weight for both tire/wheel is around 43lbs vs 33lbs for the stock 15" setup.

Anyone know the specs of stock FRS/BRZ wheels? Thinking of putting them on my 2017 Prius Prime. Will I need hub rings or spacers to make them work? Thanks!

There are to many variables because the 86/FRS/BRZ run from 2012 to 2019, please provide more details on the used wheels you find like: 1) Overall Diameter 2) Width 3) ET.

The only thing that is constant is this, they all have a 5x100 bolt pattern and a 56.1mm hub bore.

Why do 17” still look small on the prime?!
    any picture of 18” wheels?

Hi Rob - thanks for this thread. Super helpful. I just picked up a set of used 2013 FRS wheels. The specs are 17x7 with an offset of 48mm. Can you tell or link me to what spacers you would recommend?

First of, you sir (Rob43) have definitely made the one and only thread everyone should be reading about. Thank you for all the info, seriously...

After spending the last week or so researching this topic I have come very close to finding my setup

    Wheels:
    Fast wheels
    Model #: FC04
    Size:17x8
    P.C.D.:5x100
    Offset:+35 or +45
    Finish Titanium
    Bore: 72.6 mm
    Seat: 60°
    Lip Size: N/A
Weight: 17.0 lbs (16.2 lbs after a call to the manufacturer)
    Load Rating: 1521 lbs / 690 kg
    Winter Approved Finish: Yes

    Tires:
    General tire
    ALTIMAX RT43 (H- OR V-SPEED RATED) - SIZE: 215/45R17

    continental
    EXTREMECONTACT DWS 06 - SIZE: 215/45ZR17

Wheels are 16.2lbs (after a call with the manufacturer)
both tire options are 20 lbs ea
For a grand total of 36.2lbs give it or take plus tpms and wheel weights

My brain is about to explode after all this research but the only obvious drawback of this setup that I can think of is the wider 8" wheel and the tire being 215 instead of 205.
I think weight I have it mostly under control and besides the extra contact area I dont see much more room for improvement. Since I am going to do massive amounts of driving I have to be MPG conscious. What should I expect on MPG loss with this setup?

And Also does anyone have actual numbers for weight on the FRS wheels?

First, Please Weigh Them. Everyone wants a definitive answer on their Exact Weight.

    ************************************

Once your 205/50-17's OR 215/45-17's are mounted on the wheels, the best thing to do is to mount everything up Without any type of spacers. This way you can assess things, if you still want a spacer later, just post up a new message and I'll assist you.

    Rob43

PS, don't forget to weigh them...

Before we continue, take a quick look at the Costco / Velox wheels. The closest style to what you're looking at is the Apex 17x7.5", ET40, 18.5 LBS, ~$499 on sale until 7/18. Once you decide either way, we'll continue...

@Rob43 - I tried to mount them and will definitely need some spacers as it is hitting the caliper. I am trying to figure out which spacers I need. I am thinking 5mm might be ok but i thought if the OE offset is 40 and these are 48, do I need to get 8mm spacers? Also if I get more than 5mm spacers, will i need stud extensions?

Related question - the wheels that I picked up had TPMS already installed in them. After checking the prius chat forum, I am guessing that I need to have either the dealer or a tire shop register the TPMS' in my 2017 prius prime?

I weighed them and with Michelin Primacy 215/45/17 tires mounted, they came in at 39.5 lbs. Pics attached.

There's a lot going on here, you must get Everything Right for a good outcome.

    1) "If" 3mm's worth of spacers get's the job done, then a 3mm spacer is what you want. This is because you don't need longer wheel studs for a simple 3mm spacer. If you need more like a 10mm*, then you'll need to install Longer studs accommodate the your new thicker spacers. It is VERY IMPORTANT that you get about 8 full turns on your lug nuts for safety reasons, 8 turns equals about 12mm's of "grab" on the wheel stud. If/when buying a thicker spacer like a 10mm, try to buy an actual 5x100 & a inner hub bore (CB) of 54.1. A 10mm spacer will put you at ET 38, this will work perfectly for a 7" wide wheel.

5x100, 54.1CB, 10mm Spacers with Longer wheel studs (buy 2 sets):
    www.ebay.com/itm/10MM-Hubcentric-Wheel-Spacers-W-Extended-Studs-Scion-5x100-54-1-12x1-5/173888651431?hash=item287c9240a7:g:eSYAAOSwVkxcx5TA

54.1 to 56.1 Hub Rings, buy these:
    www.ebay.com/itm/4-Hub-Centric-Rings-56-1mm-Wheel-to-54-1mm-Hub-Hubcentric-54-1-to-56-1/192082043613?hash=item2cb8fb62dd:g:zXIAAOSwzDBbF2de:sc:USPSFirstClass!97086!US!-1

    2) If you go to a Discount Tire location, they can quickly make your TPMS work with your Prime. (Probably for free)

    3) IMPORTANT: Take a few good pics of your lug nuts, I want to see what "style" they are.

    Rob43

    * There are no good choices that I can find for your application between 5mm to 9mm's because they Don't have a 54.1 or 56.1 Hub Bore lip.
