All the mounts are in the right place and the assembly fits but the bulb from the original (lower, broken) doesn't fit the new one (top) AND notice the top left of the new (upper) assembly has an extra plug! Did the full installation before realizing this, spent forever looking for the where the other cable I had to plug in was and finally compared it to the original assembly and realized it only had 3 plugs instead of 4! What's going on?!? This is a 2007 prius base model and the new (upper) assembly was supposed to fit any gen two...i guess it fits but there's no way to get it power!!
The replacement you purchased looks to be the HID bulb assembly, NOT a halogen bulb assembly you need. Return or purchase the correct HALOGEN bulb assembly.
yep the bottom one with the missing headlight is a halogen. Aftermarket is crap much better off buying the oem online. It fits perfectly. Aftermarket not so much.
Man so all Prius’ have halogens stock? For some reason I assumed HID’s were the standard... Thanks for the help!
A good rule of thumb for Gen 2 Prii is that any models that have fog lights also have HID headlights. No fog lights = halogen headlights
Ignorance isn't so bliss. Cost you time and frustration. 2007 model year: HID was standard for all Touring trims. HID was standard for package 4,5,6, on non-Touring Prius. http://www.auto-brochures.com/makes/Toyota/Prius/Toyota_US%20Prius_2007.pdf
