my original thought would be are the 15" normal and the 17" low profile? If yes, they's still be the same size overall diameter and bolt pattern. Then I saw the thread below.

17 inch or 15 inch wheels? | PriusChat

The response says you can switch them around without changing the axle...so I think you'd be safe?

@bisco is playing off of the OP’s last statement in post 1 ;).

    Apparently he’s soft .

Maybe one of his more redeeming qualities (y).

We did have a rear axle replacement (Feb, 2012), and come to think of it:

That's definitive confirmation. The description and part number on my paperwork is:

    BEAM, REAR AXLE 42101-12171

And our 2010 Touring model has the 17" rims.

The Heretic Shallow Grave and Lager are a great choice where you can find them(y).

Now as for the body construction, it's a different story. For example, REAR INNER WHEELHOUSE, RIGHT: for 15", for 17".

According to ToyoDIY, there are 15"/17" variants for wheelhouse inner (left and right) and wheelhouse outer (left and right).

Ours (with 17" rims stock) has a fibrous fender liner in the back, which the 15" didn't have, at least in 2010. Maybe related to that.

I noticed that in the ToyoDIY listing also ... the rear wheelhouse LINER, which has part numbers only for 17" and not for 15".

What I find most interesting is that the body sheet metal structure is actually different.
