I have this idea, I have a 2013 Prius c and would like to upgrade from stock.

What do you think about 205/50/15? those will be on 15*8 rims.

I was wondering if I would have to worry about any touching in the wheel arch area..

205 is too narrow for 8" width rim. you should be looking at 7" or 6.5" width for 205mm tyres. Also your ratio of 50 would be upsetting the overall diameter.

205 50 16 for 16" for Prius C. However clearance & offset is also a factor which I've yet to measure haha.

As seen from other Prius c owners in japan you can run a x9 rim but Turing ratio is out the window. I’m currenty running a 17x7 rim with a 205/45/17. Unless you want to run stretch tires then yes you can run a 205 tire on the rim. Is not will be a 215 you will run.

205 will fit fine on 8 inch wheel. It will be lightly stretched if anything . I've ran 195 and 205 on 15x8 with no problems. If you go by manufacture tire recommendation, there gonna tell you its not recommended but like i said, never had issues with 205 on 15x8 in my experience. As for rubbing, you might have issues depending on how low you are.

Also for your speedometer, it will be off a few mph. I'm running 185/55/15 and my speedo is off by 3 mph. 205/50/15, my guess is your speedo is gonna read 5mph under. I use a GPS app and compared it to my car and that's how I know. There's also websites that can do the conversions for you. I believe running 65 series is optimal and 60 will be closes to stock without throwing off the speedometer.

You can get a set of older Miata rims! They usually sell on Craigslist/Facebook Marketplace for fairly cheap.

What exactly makes you think this will be an "upgrade" ?
What are you trying to accomplish, really ??
It might actually hurt your gas mileage.
