I just repainted my 2008 Prius and had the interior detailed. I also Installed 2 new headlights and 2 new taillights, only $200 from Ebay Old ones where ugly and faded from sun damage ***It looks like a NEW 2008 PRIUS again!!! I bought my Prius new in 2008 Another major consideration is knowing what I have in the driveway... Dependability, service history, etc. I'll buy a new Toyota hybrid battery when the time comes
Congratulations. You’re lucky that you don’t live in the Rust belt. My 2005 has always lived in the upper Midwest. Sadly, this past fall was the first appearance of cancer on it. That actually is pretty good here. Typically, you start seeing evidence at about year 10. I got 3 bonus years. All of the Gen 2 prius I’m seeing with rust, have it in the same location. The Rocker panel just in front of the rear wheels. I don’t know if it can be cut out and new metal put in, but you will never get a repair like that to last. Unless, you can somehow coat the inside with POR-15. Out of curiosity, how much was the paint job? I’m with you on replacing the Headlight housings. They are cheap relatively speaking and give you that new car look. Something those polishing kits never do. Just curious as to what brand the light housings were. TYC, Eagle etc? iPhone X ?
DMC-5180 I Paid $1300, from a very reputable car painter in town [base coat/clear coat] 4 year warranty... Also, there was NO body damage to repair on my Prius I had to wait 4 months for an appointment to have him paint it [he's very busy]. *The NEW headlights & taillights I got from Ebay $200 for both sets
Congratulations on your NEW 2008 Prius. Any photos? Yeah, I am in the same situation as @DMC-5180 above. Living on the rust belt, my expectation for a new car is 10 years on the road limit if you want nice looking car. I have not had a car that survived past 15 years. Engine might run fine, but rust related issues take a toll and get too expensive to repair or up-keep. Doesn't matter if the car is $50K luxury car or $15K budget commuter.
It helps having a solid car to start with. It is way better to invest a car that is paid for if you have a passion for it. Than to have a new car payment. Plus that next Ten years allows you to put money in your next car fund, whatever that may be, and Pay Cash for it. iPhone X ?
our daughter just sold he '08 for 5k. great car, still running perfectly. someone got a good one. all the best!
