If electric cars need more public places to charge, maybe they could just go to gas stations.

That seems to be the approach behind the latest installations of EVgo stations in California.

The company, which bills itself as the largest operator of DC fast charging stations in the U.S., formed an alliance with Chevron to install up to 12 DC fast chargers at 5 Chevron stations in California.

The first of these stations opened on Monday in Menlo Park, in the Silicon Valley. Others are under construction, and will offer chargers with 50 to 100 kilowatts, which can recharge a car at a maximum rate of about 6 miles per minute (until the battery reaches its "bulk charge" of 80 percent.)

Note that Tesla plans to install 350kW chargers so that 180 miles will be in 10-15 mins.

No Chevron out here, anymore. What I do, is every time I see a sign advertising a new gas station is being put up on a site, I e-mail their headquarters, asking if they're also putting up charging stations.
    Responses:
    1. Yes
    2. No
    3. Yes, but not at that site.
    4. If there's enough interest, they'll be added.

i would like to see charging stations take credit cards, so you don't have to 'sign up' to use one.

Tesla is actually planning that fast? I know VW is.

Your wallet might beg to differ.

Easier yet is to just plug in and let all that credit card stuff happen on the back end unseen.

And for ChargePoint stations I find just tapping the phone against the pedestal to be extremely quick and easy.

If it is superior, why haven't gas pumps adopted the charger model? Or parking fee terminals?
You don't to sign up with every gas station brand, or parking system, in order to use them. Doing so would be inconvenient, and probably increase cyber crime risk. How won't that be the same when charger company options become greater than one or two for a region?

Not quite understanding your point. When I plug in to a Supercharger, Tesla knows it's my car. Therefore they bill me. Only way fraud is happening on that is if they steal my car.

Tesla is it's own case. Superchargers only serve Teslas(at this time)

My comment is about the charger networks other cars use.

I have no idea why it has taken this long for gas pumps to actually institute some new tech regarding apps or even NFC payments at most stations. Could be something to do with the backward looking mentality of that industry overall.

To be fair, I can't adequately weight in on this since we pretty much only have ChargePoint around here (other than Tesla of course).
