Any luck slowing oil burning with a stop leak (lucas, blue devil, bars, etc.)

I believe it worked and was a noticeable difference. I'm maybe 1 or 2 days from taking my @ 3000 miles picture but I know it will be pretty low. But, before, I think at 2k miles I'd be where I'm at now --- at 3k miles --- if that makes sense.

That pic was a mistake --- that is what we used to fix a lifter noise on a BMW.

The Prius Mechanic I know said he has reduced oil consumption by using Nano Pro MT. Problem is he said he uses it at every oil change and it costs $25/bottle so I'll stick to the $12/bottle stuff right now.

 

Was using Mobil One full synthetic from 140k when I got it and up....Started burning after 40k miles of me owning it (around 180k). So now I consider Mobil One FS a gimmick/junk!

It is very cheap at Walmart (about $30 for oil/filter).

I went to Walmart and the highest-priced oil was Royal Purple @ $37 or so...

With the Liqui Moli and Royal Purple it seems to run really good. Starts off purplish when you look at dipstick and then turns light gold. It is nice and makes engine run smooth thus far.

 

Thanks for tip! I have mobil one promotions bookmarked but haven't checked recently. That is a great deal but doesn't serve a purpose for my use right now. Will think about it though cause price so low!

Round 2 @ 1500 miles still full

 

Done in past on previous gen 3 prius and does/did absolutely nothing. I did change PCV valve on this car when I got it at 140k miles.

I'm using the most expensive oil I can find (Royal Purple). It is almost 2X more expensive than Mobil One at Walmart.

 

Not blindly....I'd more say experimenting and whaddya know it worked as expected! With the oil stabilizer + purple oil it is a slightly thicker viscosity.

Before @ 2k miles the oil change shop said I was 2.5 quarts low...

And whaddya know here I am round 2 of experiment @ 2k miles today and still full..

There are only 2 options at Walmart. The Mobil One JUNK that I have used for years very faithfully.

Been using it from 140k to about 180 or 185k when I noticed severe oil consumption.

The only other option at Walmart is Royal Purple which happens to be a very expensive oil which would indicate to me that it is a good brand. Which is why I went with it.

I crossed 210k miles this week.

 

Round 2 @ 2k miles still pretty close to full and before I was 2 quarts down.

On round 3 I'll just update @ 2.5k and 3k cause that is when it starts to burn using this oil concoction. Before I'd be burning after 1k miles.

 

Unfortunately nobody will ever know.

Because, unfortunately, I am not a scientist with a 1 million dollar grant to take 30 different 200k mile Priuses that all burn the exact same amount of oil and then try 30 different concoctions to try to determine with a degree of certainty that 1 oil concoction works better than another.

Typically the most expensive product is the best product and as stated Mobil Junk was ruled out cause issue started with Mobil Junk. That left only 1 other option at Walmart.

After running these 2 products a couple more times I'll switch to a different oil and see if burning gets worse.
