Here, "Passenger vehicles [not incl SUVs or Trucks] were 91.3% petrol-powered, 5.2% petrol-electric hybrid and 3.2% diesel."

COROLLA is quoted as "around 30% were hybrids" - and last I read, CAMRY was about 47% Hybrid - and that was restrained due to waiting lists of a few months.

RAV4 Hybrid which comes in the next few days will be interesting to watch.

PRIUS doesn't do well - mainly because it's priced much too high - against the fully loaded CAMRY.

Just ... because - I like the photo. And am a bit taken by YELLOW cars - having owned 3 so far.

It goes back a long way. And no - I'm more into reliable cars than Maseratis o_O . I was sorting photos a few wks ago, as I got bored with the WOODS Hybrid, and came across the Spyder. Only ever seen one or 2 on the road here, last one a dismal off-black, never a yellow.

The story. When I was Business Manager in a large High School, I often had to log into other staff computers (about 55 of them) so I could do various updates or access programs as Administrator to fix stuff. And - to make it more obvious if I'd logged in - and to remind me to log-out, I set this up as my personal desktop - unlike the Government Logo everyone else used.

Maybe I could do a Prince Harry and convert one to a BEV? Or a MaserBrid like Bill the Engineer's.

I just received this email from TOYOTA - about HYBRIDS. But which included the suggestion that I might like to update. I suspect they've seen that mine is almost 3 yrs old, almost out of warranty - and maybe reading the crystal ball that I've usually updated about that stage in recent years.

It's been a very long time since I've seen a Spyder in real life (probably 20 years). Naturally they don't last lol.

It's possible but I'm assuming you are mechanically handy. A conversion done by a 3rd party is quite a bit of coin.

  7. Plug-in hybrids make the most sense, so that Canadians can preheat their car and clear snow while charging the battery (useful when starting at low SOC).

Meanwhile, all this talk about Spyders just makes me want to post:

Yes, the rust ... not sure if an Italian car is worse or even worser than an E-Type. The reality is - it's never going to happen. My days of mechanical work are over - arthritis in hands and shoulders have made it too painful.

I saw the price of conversions, and the dream faded. My EV, when it comes, will be a factory build.

But we can dream - the older I get, the more I dream of lost opportunities.

Sounds like RAV4 hybrid (made in Canada - I'm familiar with the area near Sarnia) gets a good price in Canada. I am trying to tell my wife older people like RAV4, but so far she is not on board. We are not really old, about the same as bisco, but we rented a Nissan Altima last week, I was surprised how hard it was to bend your neck under the darn roof when you get in.

Not really. Our Freight/PDI has always been much higher than yours. It’s $1,795 for SUVs and minivans.

Ahh - no sign of them coming here. Maybe next year I imagine, but could be earlier.

RWD Tesla builds just announced. So AU could bet them around the tyrn of the year. Are there any dealer sponsored restrictions IN AU similar to what we have in the some states where direct selling in a dealership owned by the manufacturer is prohibited?

Not that I know of - TESLA is tiny here, and doesn't have dealerships as such, just 3 centres in 3 Capital Cities for both sales and service - all with the same phone number. And if you go to their website, there's an option to order a car online - which isn't an Australian "thing" to do - yet.
