Anyone attempted to retrofit the 2019 model sunshade to the 2017-2018 prime yet? I imagine it would fit right in except the 2019 has that pull out extension.

Shouldn't be any harder than taking out the screws and disconnecting the power wire for the lights. I'm willing to bet the replacement visor is $$$. I bought a strap on one from Amazon. Not nearly as tidy but cheap and it pulls out farther and is taller than the integrated one.

The integrated one on the new models is so tiny that most of the time it won't help. My strap on ones look a little cobbled, but they cover all the way to the top and all the way back to the pillar.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more the integrated ones look like a slap in the face to the people who have been asking for them.

$274 (plus tax) for two sunvisors with little extensions on them? I'll pass on that good deal...

Even at $60.80 each (if this is the new one) at McGeorge, that's still quite a lot for what you get.

For that money, they would for sure need to cover the whole gap. And they don't. I'll keep my $25 strap-ons. They do cover the whole gap.

I have never found the gap to be a problem.

It's probably just me. The sun is never not in the gap if there's a gap.

Murphy's law at work. It is likely a problem for most Prius drivers, since Toyota changed the design of the visor. They wouldn't have done that without consumer demand for the feature.

Are the visor color all the same (grey)?

The sun is perfectly in the gap on my commute all winter. It's in almost the same place relative to the car morning and evening. And it's even past the side of my wraparound sunglasses.

I bought a strap on visor extension that someone else recommend here, and it works well enough.

I agree. That price is way more than I would pay for the convenience of a small extension.

It might be related to height of the person in the seat. I have my seat all the way back and probably close to half of the side window has no coverage at all. Which is why I bought the strap ons. They sure aren't glamorous but they cover the rest of the window for me.

My seat is nowhere near all the way back and the original visors still leave almost half the window unprotected. When I tried the new ones in the Prius on display, they still didn't go all the way back. And they left a gap at the top. And they didn't come down as far as the main visor. My strap-ons fix all those issues at a fraction of the money cost. But there is the aesthetic cost. IMHO, they are worth the slight ugly factor. Beauty is as beauty does.

I can't remember ever owning a car with sun visor extender, but my experience has been that the only time I have problem with the sun in my view is shortly after sun rise or shortly before sun set when sun is just above the horizon and I am driving directly toward the sun. For those situations, no sun visor, with extender or not, will help, since you are looking directly at the sun, if you have a visor that blocks the sun, you are not seeing anything on the road. I use to drive with a polarized sunglasses for those instances, but polarized sunglasses makes reading some of the instrumental panel display of PRIUS extremely difficult. So, I don't use it now. I almost bought the polarized shield type visor advertised on TV, but after reading many negative reviews about it on-line, decided not to. Have anyone used them? Do they not work?
