    So why not just say "no spare"? A nice big negative in a sales brochure.

    While the price is outlandish, the Toyota spare tire kit looks to be very well done. Always keep in mind that the spare tire needs to be well secured. If someone hits you while you're driving, you do not need the spare to become an unguided missile flying toward your head.

    Has anyone priced the spare tire kit, less the wheel & tire, from one of the discount on line Toyota parts dealers?

    Do you mean for Gen4 Prius that did not come with spare tire? The kit will not work on PRIME, and AFAIK, Toyota does not have any spare tire kit for PRIME.

    I think you are correct. Has anyone confirmed what is in the spare tire well space in the new 2019 AWD PRIUS? The cargo volume is suppose to be the same as regular Prius, but...

    In Canada the base Prius still comes with a spare, all other levels do not. Paraphrasing the names a bit, but anyway, there"

    2WD base (spare)
    2WD tech (no spare)
    AWD base (no spare)
    AWD tech (no spare)

    The spare tire well (already not very deep on TNGA) is where the rear inverter lives for AWD-e.

    Although not a perfect solution, I just strap my spare to the rear seat back latch cinched down, which has enough height to prevent chafing from the locking mechanism. Works fine.

    After the incredible hassle of yesterdays flat I am going to get a spare for my 2017 Prius. Went to the junkyard and was told there were no designated spares withing 300 miles. This was for part #560-75203. I would like to think that most any 5 x 100 space saver spare would fit. If not, how do I decide on what wheel and tire I can purchase?

    eBay is your friend. OP listed the parts # for the wheel and tire size he used. It looks like either 42611-47630 (from PANT doc) or 42611-47631 (from part store site figure). Any compact spare from Gen3 or Gen4 Prius would work. @Mendel Leisk says compact spare from Corolla also works, but I don't have the part # handy. I ended up buying a generic black steel wheel for the full size tire at Walmart to use as spare when I had to replace 1 flat tire and purchased two new tires. One good tire from my Gen3 Prius and steely for ~$50. Bit bigger but not much different from compact tire. Good thing is I don't have 50 mph, 50 miles limitation with a full size tire. I keep it behind the front passenger seat. I almost never use rear seats, so this storage place works for me. However, @jerrymildred pointed out to me that having a spare tire stored right behind the front passenger seat jammed in between the rear seat, if the car gets involved in very severe head-on or rear-ended accident, the passenger seat movement maybe compromised, raising possibility of more serious injury to the passenger sitting in front. It is a risk. If you can secure it on the trunk space and don't mind loosing cargo space, that maybe safer. It's your call.

    Welcome.

    I could not find any in the entire Tampa Bay area. So I got mine from Ebay. Any spare for a Gen 3 or 4 would work. Mine came from the Miami area. I'm sure there are lots of them closer to Baltimore.

    I also made a D-ring because I couldn't find one I wanted, except for the $20+ one from Toyota, so I could strap it down safely in the cargo area. My L1 EVSE coils up nicely in the rim and I keep my L2 EVSE at home and ready to use.

    Will a Corolla compact spare tire fit? While a compact spare has its limitations, it's way, way better than nothing. Ebay and many places have the Corolla spare readily available. If it's used and over 10 years old, do consider putting on a new tire and valve stem.

    Info for a 2010 Prius temp spare:

    rim p/n: 42611-20841
    Tire spec: T135/80D16 101M

    The OD of this combo is very close to 195/65R15. The 17" temp spare is somewhat smaller OD, not really sure why they would switch.

    I found this thread because my front driver's tire drove over a bolt this week. Just want to make a PSA that the little 12V air compressor won't work as a pump- it only works in conjunction with the slime canister that's next to it on the left side of the trunk.

    Fortunately after picking up the bolt, my tire still held air- there was an awful whomping noise that sounded like a flat, but when I pulled over the tires were all inflated. Once I isolated it to the front left tire I found the bolt, in there as neatly as if someone had installed it. It even had a washer!

    I drove half a mile to the local gas station and bought a rope plug kit. Unfortunately I didn't look closely at the 12V pump before taking the bolt out and letting all the air out of my tire. There is no valve for putting air in a tire, I guess you stick one end of the slime canister into the compressor and the other end connects to the valve stem.

    I got the plug in, then luckily for me there was a garage in walking distance that was kind enough to loan me an air compressor.

    I consider the rope plugs semi-permanent, but with a 75-mile one-way commute I went ahead and ordered another NanoEnergy A29 from Tire Rack (I have 11,500 miles and the tires are 9/32- new is 10 or 11/32). I'll keep the plugged tire and maybe mushroom plug/patch it myself- two garages I tried would not patch the tire citing liability concerns as it is about 1" from the sidewall. Probably sound advice but I always feel like they have an incentive to sell me a new tire.

    I think I'll buy a used OEM rim on eBay and mount the patched tire onto it, and keep a full-sized spare in the trunk area, just for convenience. I have three different kinds of roadside assist but it's much quicker to just replace a flat tire and have the extra dropped off and repaired at your convenience.
