    That is almost comical.

In more breaking news, water is wet!!
Tesla guided to lower sales in the US almost two months ago, along with a cut in sales due to shipping time.
4th quarter is always higher than 1st quarter, simply due to the tax refund. This year that is likely intensified by the cut in half of the rebate.

Taking what the 4th quarter update letter to investors, simplifying it while dramatizing it, is hardly news.

It's possible. Like anything is possible.

We don't get CNN here - but I've seen a report suggesting that by the end of 2019, there will be serious competition from at least AUDI, Jaguar, Volvo and Mercedes & others - all of which are expected to undercut TESLA prices (the Jaguar is here and it does considerably).

With the Jaguar here now, the first journalist's comment I read is that it "shows TESLA a thing or two as far as build quality is concerned".

jaguar build quality looks good, but underneath, it is a pile of rotting stink. i'll take the tesla.

as far as pricing goes, everything here is more expensive than tesla.

as far as competition goes, show me the money. i hear a lot of talk, but see no action.

as far as the o/p goes, there are just some people who can't wait for the mighty to fall, hoping against hope.
don't understand why, maybe they sleep better at night, knowing they did their good deed for the day.

Even if it does smell like the lower end of the Ganges River (after all the owner of Jag, Tata Motors) - if you pretend it's the best made car in the world, there's still the issue of horrible nationwide infrastructure. Unless Tata Motors is willing to Pony up to become a supercharger user member, what's the point.

Is the competition serious if there is no place to charge on the highway?
How many fast chargers do they have or plan to have by the time they start shipping?
    Just curious.

Sort of easy to undercut prices when zero goes to infrastructure.

No idea - there are almost no TESLA chargers here either. To match the number of TESLAs - I might see one a month. But at $200,000+, I'm not surprised.

I don't know about underneath. A neighbour has a new XF Jaguar, and the build quality is excellent. The couple of TESLAs I've seen close up are worse than South African assembled FORDs.

Friday, I bought more TSLA to bring the ratios:
    • ~22.4% - KL gold mining stock
    • ~77.2% - TSLA car manufacturer
I've made my bet ... what did CNN put down?

I buy stock of companies I use and like to know about. Annual reports make interesting reading if you want to fall asleep.

Like owner's manuals these days. 543 pages here in Australia plus another for the Entertainment system.
    I've got a copy from Dad's first car - 57 pages:

True - but just illustrating the size of manuals back then. And how ~700 pages might just be good sleep-inducing material.

There will be 10,000 vehicles in transit according to tesla, and some standard range + cars will lower ASP, so revenue will be lower in the first quarter than the 4th for tesla (where more vehicles were delivered than produced). One time events will make GAAP profit negative. Tesla is selling every model 3 it can make, but they will make more profit shipping some to china and europe and those ships take time, along with customs. Revenue is not down because of jaguar, volvo, or mercedes, in fact those companies joining the game will likely help tesla at least in the short term. Tesla market share should be up in the US, Europe, and China.

In Q4 2018 Tesla delivered 90,700 vehicles (S/3/X) inside EV is expecting 70,000-75,000 vehicles in Q1. Q2 should be higher as transit vehicles are delivered and June deliveries go to US customers before federal tax credit declines again in july.
