OK, good so far. Would prefer it to lock on both ends. My JuiceBox 40 EVSE is 8 feet from the street, so having a near tamper proof solution would be important to me if I look at Tesla as my next car.

The J1772 can be disconnected from the adapter but the adapter remains locked in the car. I've had to use the iPhone App to unlock the charge port and remove the adapter. Not the easiest interface to master but it works.

Can you be a little more specific? Perhaps with an example.

I've not tested it yet but the car has 'sentry' mode. The video cameras detect threats and make a record. You might still suffer damage BUT the video data can help identify the responsible parties for criminal and civil prosecution.

There is one known weakness that allows breaking the small, rear window lets the crook lower the seat and see if there are any valuables in the trunk. If so, they can then assault the car to access the trunk. There is a workaround that locks or blocks the seat back latch. Or one can just leave the rear seats folded down and no need to break the window.

Actually this is optional. On the charging screen there is a little padlock that you can click to lock/unlock.
This allows you to keep it unlocked at work, for example, so others can use the charger.

If the car is locked, the adapter is locked into the charge port. If you unlock the car, the charge port automatically unlocks. You can lock/unlock the car in 3 ways - included Tesla smartphone app (Apple & Android), included (2) key cards (the size of a credit card), or the optional key fob ($150, shaped like a mini-model 3). I use the smartphone app about 80% of the time, the key fob about 20% of the time, and the key card twice in 3 months.

Yes, past is precedent. Elon is always late, and more than a little, but the excellent product always gets there. Love their products, and their competition is still a ways back in the rearview mirror, so willing to put up with some of the shenanigans. But I'm neither a fan boy or hater.

Like everyone, Tesla should be open to criticism. It's just that in most forums, members often chose one partisan side, not willing to concede anything that goes against their side. Voices in the middle get chased to a side, and the partisans discourage constructive criticism and rightly earned praise.

+1 (y) but the "shenanigans" part does concern me.

I don't think it's shenanigans. That implies mal-intent. I think they are just a young company that is pushing forward so fast they make some stupid errors along the way. I understand that doesn't forgive the end result. But to me I wouldn't be following a company that I truly thought had bad intentions.

And the other outright lies, cavorts with prostitutes, brags about grabbing women by their privates, puts his personal interests ahead of the American people, denies climate science, Obama's birth State, the integrity of the Latin people and is way overweight and lazy in a bad way. Which would you rather have?
