Maintenance beyond 120,000 miles

wash, rinse, repeat. but aren't there some notes in there about future fluid changes?

of course, you'll start having non maintenance items popping up over time, have you cleaned the egr circuit?

 

I'd cobbled a spreadsheet of the US schedule, to the limit, and someone had asked "what now", so I extrapolated, to 240K miles (pdf version added, if spreadsheet is not going to work):

 

Clean your egr circuit sooner rather than later.

It may save your head gasket.

Who’s your mechanic as I’m pretty sure your up here in Nor Cal if memory serves correctly ?

There might be a few plausible extras as the miles pile on, beyond the "usual suspects" (EGR and Intake Manifold clean, Transaxle fluid change, brake fluid change, oil catch can install).

Maybe timing chain replacement, around 240K?? Or is that crazy talk?

Oh, and the two coolant pumps.

 

How does one determine when the timing chain is bad? I’m at 220,000 miles and upon inspection it looks fine.

 

Probably is, lol. FWIW, if you've got the engine torn down, there's some chain inspection specs in the attachment (commencing page 24).

You don’t ever replace the timing chain unless they go bad.

 

One option is to buy spare parts for each component and then do a swap .

That saves on labor rates and you get the piece of mind of knowing the condition of the system.

I’m a bad person to ask about the coolant pumps as I am the type to preventatively replace them before they fail. Engine water pump I did at 175k miles and the inverter water pump I have purchased and will do next Friday if my work calendar allows.

Then our 2010 with 199 k miles should be good for a very long time for any pumps.

@The Critic is similar in thinking and will be assisting with the invert water pump and fuel pump replacement. He and I banter back and forth a bit and I may have helped push him over the edge on both of his recent pump replacements .

They’ll have what you need and much less than buying new parts.

 

Now if only I can convince you to let me replace your head gasket preemptively...
