Hey, so I have a problem. I live in Colorado and it's starting to get to the rainy season. I noticed a few snow storms ago that the black rubber seal thing broke off the door. It's the one that connects to the door and seals the outside of the window, and the inside of the door from getting rusted. Does anyone know where or even if I can buy this part and DIY it myself? I can provide more details, and I can post pictures tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance to everyone who can help!! Garron
Pictures never made it through, but from your description that could be the correct part. Does it look like this ?
If it's what @SFO pictures, that's an easy part to replace. I've done several of them. Hardest part is cleaning off the goo they leave on the glass when the felt comes off and you run the windows up & down.
I'll take pictures tonight if I have enough lighting. It's just the weather seal that stops water from going inside the door.
There's a product called "Goo Gone. Goo Gone You can probably find it among the cleaning products at your local grocery store or hardware store. Paint thinner works, too, iirc. It's just that the stuff can track down into hard to reach places, and it gets everywhere as you probably noticed, so it just takes a little patience to find it all.
So, I found a thread that has the same problem as me, except it is already completed and I have the new part to install tomorrow. Thank you all for your help! Ps... I should really search the forums before I start a thread... hahaha. Completed thread: Driver's window moulding | PriusChat
