From a population of nearly 40 million, that is negligible. De minimis. That state is still growing by hundreds of thousands per year.

Population declined in nine states and Puerto Rico. The nine states were: New York (down 48,510), Illinois (45,116), West Virginia (11,216), Louisiana (10,840), Hawaii (3,712), Mississippi (3,133), Alaska (2,348), Connecticut (1,215) and Wyoming (1,197). - States in South and West Growing the Fastest

Published by the US Census, in Dec 2018, but seems to be based on 2017 data.

If you want to be paid to help with the 2020 census, I recommend Oakland, CA

I did! "Still California's population continues to grow, as the number of births exceeded the number of deaths by about 220,000 in 2017, the study noted." California's population is not declining.

Interesting that the less educated are the ones that are leaving.

"In 2017, some 130,000 more residents left California than arrived from other states,"

"Still California's population continues to grow, as the number of births exceeded the number of deaths by about 220,000 in 2017, ..."

So California is still reproducing faster than it is emigrating or dying.

i remember people in vegas telling me they retired there from california for cheaper cost of living back in the 90's i think?
vegas was in the middle of a massive real estate boom pushing miles and miles into the dessert, as far as the eye could see.
    then came the bust.
not sure the quality of life was the same though.

Not when those who are moving here are taking advantage of the higher wages that go with the jobs their education qualifies them for. With the higher income comes a desire for the upscale homes in the more upscale areas of the state. Those aren't the ones that are being vacated. Supply and demand.

This thread is about an article on fox Entertainment channel, a fictitious entity.

More people are leaving California to go to Mexico then are leaving Mexico to go to California, more people move for economical reasons than don't, presently, people that are Mexican prefer to live in the Mexican economy, the US economy is in a Nosedive, rather like the jets with the wings to far back that are going to ground.
