I just bought this car from a used dealer some weeks ago and put some 400 miles on it and now it just does not move. even with 12v battery reset and codes erased. so the car is in the middle of the street in daly city. Do you believe this problem will be resolved by sending someone there to replace the battery pack/modules and fix the C codes? or is the other way around and are the P codes causing the problem and i really need to tow the car to a shop? it also came with these codes: C0200 U0073 U0123 U0124 U0126 and making tickling noise on the wheels, so a mechanic came to drive with me and told me its the bearing and he replaced it for 200 and it did not fix it, so he said its the other side as well and i just ordered another bearing and will charge me 140 to install it. i believe i could need to replace the skid control ecu( according to the manual) or replace the speed sensor. anyone know the fix for these codes? I am tired of buying prius check for no codes, and the next few days later all codes come up with all sort of problems. It seems these wholesellers dont know anything about the cars and just flip them from the auctions without spending a dime on making them great again. And are really disonest if they know about it and still fooled people to buy them. i always use my obd and test drive but it seems its not enough because they clear everything to do the smog just minutes before. ( not so) FUN FACT: i paid the dealer in two times, one in december and one in january, the car worked exactly until the 2 payment was done and then died....
So does the dealer not have any responsibility to ensure the care continues to work for a reasonable period of time after the sale? In any case the C0200 is directing you to the Front Speed Sensor RH Circuit. The Uxxxx codes are all lost comms error in the same area. I'd be checking the RH front speed sensor and all plugs and wiring back to the PCM. The C1310-C1259 from your title are a bit more serious. I'd really be going back to the dealer, clearly the HV battery is in a bad way, and I find it difficult believe that s/he did not know that. You could try replacing modules, but the car will never be reliable until it has an new HV battery. The 12 V battery is fully charged and in good condition?
I'm not sure I agree with you a hundred percent on your police work there, Lou. Here's a recent post on interpreting C1310 + C1259 + P3190 + P0171.
Yep, caught out rushing and not thinking about it enough. Glad you pointed out my poor analysis so the op wasn't led in the wrong direction. My sincere apologies.
i am sorry i did not reply before because i did not get any notifications on this, i am new to this forum so not sure how everything works very well... my apologies. I had a prius mobile specialist work on the car , he went there several times without sucess... i ended up towing it to arts automotive and ended up being the person who used the car put diesel on it. 1000 bucks bill....
Diesel in the tank. That would have been hard to remotely diagnose. Thanks for sharing though. Especially the resolution. Just in case someone shows up with codes like this in the future!
How did you or unknown person manage that? The gas station nozzles are near fool proof: 1) nozzle size difference: diesel is made bigger to prevent the insertion into an unleaded vehicle. 2) pump color: diesel is green, unleaded gasoline is black.
When you have both P1259 And P1310 show up together it's almost always a low 12 volt battery and not a major problem. Charge or replace it and clear codes and see if they come up again. If they do it may be the main hv battery not charging but you would see other codes in the P3xxx range also.
But as it turned out, someone put diesel in the tank. Disagree. C1259 and C1310 are both acknowledgment codes. The two ECUs involved are the Skid Control ECU and the Hybrid Control ECU. Given the CAN communication error codes, it is likely the reason for the C1259/C1310 being set in this case.
C1259 and C1310 are both codes that are set in the skid ECU whenever the HV ECU has reported an issue of any kind. The two ECUs coordinate for regen braking, so the skid ECU needs to know when it will be on its own to slow the car down because the HV ECU won't be able to pull the usual weight. They appear together because one of them means "I received notice of an HV ECU issue" and the other means "I acknowledge that stopping the car is now all on me" and those things go together.
