I live in California. Does that mean I would need to pay tax in both states, even though I don't live there?

I bought a Prime in NY and registered it in Colorado. Paid CO taxes and reg fees at NY dealer not NY taxes, and certainly not both

I don't think they had any rebates when the new models come out. You'll have to wait at least 6 months to see a rebate and it won't be as high as it is now until maybe a year after it's been out.

How much were the reg fees?

Sounded from the comment below like certain states get nailed extra, including California.

"Need to make sure your home state isn't no some tax tit for tat list where you get nailed for taxes on both ends. Fla? Cal.? Ill.?"

doesn't matter where you buy your car, you pay the same particular state fees and taxes wherever you register it

I remember there was no rebate on the 2018 model when Toyota was pushing the 2017. Check out this thread Toyota 2017 Prius Prime (Plug-in Hybrid, Trim level : Plus) MRP $27995 -$5000 rebate -$4500 Federal tax credit = $18595 - Slickdeals.net

"Eligible vehicles must be purchased in California"

Thank you for the link. Definitely a problematic line. That definitely does a lot to discourage me from driving over 3000 miles.

I guess I will look in CA and hope to find a good deal.

If anyone finds a great deal going on either a 2018 or 2019 Prius Prime at a California Toyota dealership, please message me.

I will also pay that amount for Prime Advanced with delivery to me in SoCal.

In regards to the CA state rebate, it's not about where ones lives and registers, it's about where one purchases. That's why I included the link for you (FAQs | Clean Vehicle Rebate Project), it's California's official web site where it explicitly states this:

Can I purchase the vehicle out of state?
No, vehicles purchased or leased outside of California are not eligible for CVRP

Many thanks to everyone sharing their buying experience in this forum. We just bought a 2018 Prime Premium.

    MSRP 30,600
    Sale price 24,800 + TTL

Took quotes from Bristol Toyota in Rhode Island and Team Toyota Princeton. Both responded quickly to online form fills with the above pricing. Picked it from Team Toyota Glen Mills PA as that dealership is closer to me. It was a smooth transaction. They even changed the constant reverse beep to a single tone while I was finishing the paperwork.

I had a 2007 Prius, new one is swifter and more comfortable. Love the EV driving. Except for the poor infotainment (Entune) which seems to be in its final year, this car is a joy!

Is the Entune really on its final year? Looking at the 2019 Canadian prime, nothing seemed have changed.

Regardless, congrats on your new Prime![/QUOTE]

Thanks! Family is loving the new Prius. Few Toyota models are receiving Apple Play, so thought 2019 might be the last year for Entune on Prius. Yes, 2019 Canadian Prius Prime still has Entune and the new 2019 Prius (AWD) seems to be continuing on Entune. Can't wait for the software to get better.

    Hi everyone,

Looking at pulling the trigger on a 2018 Prius prime premium.

    Using a 2008 Prius for $2000 trade

Brining an otd cost to $23741

Do you guys think this a good deal or should I wait for the new models to come out 6BE6B56E-E225-4FE3-BA5F-3402FF52A3C2.jpeg

24-25k + TTL seems to be a good sale price for Prime Premium. Trade-in value is the variable here. As long as you are convinced that $2000 is ok for your 2008 Prius, this seems to be one of the best deals seen on this forum. 2019 Prime seems to be a carryover, so you may see a near 4k jump in price once 2018 models are sold out. Then the waiting begins till Toyota starts the rebate on 2019s. If you need the trunk space and 5th seat, buying 2019 Prius hybrid makes sense. If EV is preferred, I would get it now.
