They appear to have an old Mitsu factory in Illinois, and they're using the same "who needs an infrastructure?" model as Tesla....but yeah.....those are very valid points for an $80,000 truck!
...and a very UGLY truck at that.

Teslas at least look nearly normal as long as you don't mind the blotted out face look.

The one key advantage Etrucks have is that the average new real-world truck price is already close to $60,000 and so they have a lot more wiggle room....and trucks (and utes) are just a "little" more popular than sedans and hatches.

Sedans have a base price ceiling of about 30K....and.....they're sedans.

At least Bollinger Motors approached Tesla about using the Supercharger network.

This truck/SUV can go into water unlike Tesla. The battery pack and motors are designed for it, at least that is what their marketing is saying in the video. Anyone seen Tesla when they see water? Battery pack and motor become very expensive door stoppers. See Rich Rebuilds’ videos showing them after floods.

Starting at the top like Tesla did with the Model S, this thing screams "Can't Put Baby In A Box". I hope they can pull it off.
Where will Toyota start? You know they are working on stuff. It is far easier the charge a bunch of money for something that leans toward unlimited, than it is to charge a bunch of money for something that is well, limited.

chances are pretty decent that the Tesla can deal with water at least as decently as the Nissan Leaf.

Have you see the battery case? It is not sealed. There are open vent holes that will cause the battery to flood. See Gruber Motors, they fix Salvage Teslas. They have videos made by Tesla fanboys explaining weakness with Tesla and what CAN happens when they are flooded.

Is that really a test? Maybe the battery needed extra cooling.

hmmmm - kind of makes one wonder how the liquid cooling doesn't escape.

Not that I'm doubting necessarily .... any chance there's a link?

From the photos I've seen, the cooling lines are embeded between the cells. Regardless of how the cooling runs, the liquid doesn't come in contact with any bare electrical contacts. There likely are such bare contacts within the battery case. So if any water can get into the case...

The owner's son explained what a flood could do to the Tesla battery and other components. If you can survive the long video, he can teach you a lot of what I mean.... as I sat through the whole tech talk. Noticed not a lot of Tesla fanboys saw this video.... too much tech talk and not enough Tesla celebration. Hehehe.

yea - no, he doesn't explain anything - other than the obvious ..... that the pack's external components "could" be damaged, because they're "not sealed well" - which he 'feels' might flooding over knee deep .... & the onboard charger "could" be damaged by water because he 'feels' it's not sealed well. Hardly an objective showing. As though you aren't going to get your ICE car damage if a car gets flooded .... yea - your engine "could" be damaged if it's flooded. What .... that's not authoritative enough?

Brother had a 2000 Accord that required expensive transmission repairs a couple of times. Honda had issues with that trans and V6 combo, but the car was also through two floods. I lament to loss of the tranny dip stick for DIY maintenance, but that was a "not sealed well" spot.

Don't mention that transmission. Had one in an Acure that had a recall, was inspected and I was told it didn't need the fix. 72k miles (extended warranty was to 70k) and the trans failed with the exact problem the recall was supposed to fix. Happened to be going to the area where the dealer was who sold the car to me and was the one who inspected it. They offered $1k off their rebuilt trans. I went next door to AAMCO and they installed a rebuilt transmission for half the dealer cost. Unfortunately my wife didn't trust the car and I sold it for little more than the trans cost with a lifetime trans warranty.

You said you bet a Tesla working in water as good as a Leaf. That leaf is better for that than Tesla with their seal battery pack. From learning in video, you still want to get a x and show me going on 15 inches of water that Rivian said they can do.... not me.

I said Rivian marketing said they designed their truck to be in deepish water off road like an ICE off road truck. A proper designed ICE off-road has their exhaust up high for a reason, and Rivian designed it for these usage. They said they are going to do off road adventures like Range Rover. Tesla never said they can do that... are you saying Tesla is so much better than Rivian now for water adventures?

I love my Tesla, and see what it is as designed by Tesla (or flaws).. unlike fanboys. And hope others anti-Up so We all benefit.

Are you a fanboy? I don’t understand arguing with you when all I did was just pointing out their marketing said they can do water adventures. You should be arguing with Rivian if you think Tesla is better in everything, not me!

didn't i say it 'ought' to do as well (as nissan demonstrates)? Certainly didn't mean to imply either are great, or water PROOF - any more than an ICE is/isnt. Anyway - there is no Rivian. in the same vein ..... you & i can sing better than Elvis ..... because there IS no more elvis ..... similarly all cars do better in flood waters than a pickup that doesn't exist. a PR stunt - whether done by a prorotype pickup or a Leaf ... doesn't mean there's no negative effect. They're not Navy cruisers .... which need to utilize self sacrificing anodes to help forstall corosion. Electricity, metal, salts & water - nothing good comes from it.
