Does anyone know where I can buy a 12V battery for a 2015 prius C?
It appears the size is S34B20R AGM, but I can't find any place that sells it other than the dealer.

The price from the dealer was close to $400. So if I can find it somewhere else, and install it myself it I was thinking it would be cheaper.

The c uses a unique 12v battery. Others can be made to work but the one sold at the dealer is the only slam-dunk direct replacement I know of.

    What's special:
    1. Unusual size
    2. AGM type
    3. Hookup for external offgassing vent
    4. Smaller posts with smaller terminals
If you can adapt another battery to that, you're set. Otherwise go say hi to the dealer parts counter.

if you're going to diy, call as many dealers as you are willing to drive to. prices vary, and some have coupons.
$400. is installed, and the battery should be around $200.

Look for Optima battery dealers in your area. Optimas used to be hard to find, but that's changing. You'll want the yellow top version that's made for cars that don't use the 12v to crank the engine. I believe their part # is DS46D24R for the C, but ask to be sure. Toyota has a different battery depending if you have smart key and navigation. Not sure if Optima does, but its worth mentioning. It won't be that much cheaper than the dealer, but you'll be getting a better battery.

But - if you haven't actually had your battery checked for CCA and volts, I would. Don't assume that just because its 3 years old that its like most car batteries and needs to be replaced. Prius 12v batteries last much longer because they don't have the strain of constanly starting the engine.

For example. I'm on my factory 12v still. 115k miles and 6 years of me owning the car. Bought it off the lot with 300 miles (they drove it 200 of those from another dealer) on Jan 2013.

This is the one i used for my prius C, but i had to "modify" the bracket (READ: beat off a piece of it lol, two whacks with a sledge hammer and it popped right off and fit perfect.)

I replaced my 12 volt battery today for my 2013. Currently all the auto part dealers don't list a battery for our Prius C on their program. After reading several threads on this website, I went with the Bosch AGM 51-440BAGM battery available from Pepboys. I took my old one in and compared. They have they same height and width, but the Bosch is longer, which the Prius C has extra room and even the battery bracket fit back on. The Bosch battery also has the vent tube. I just had to switch the plug and tube sides on the battery and connect it to the tube from the Prius. The only thing that would not fit was the protective plastic cover that was over the original battery.

It was funny my six year old battery was cleaner than the new one.

I have attached pictures of the original and new battery as a size comparison and how the Bosch battery fit in my Prius C.

Wow, what a coincidence, I installed this same battery Monday, also bought from PepBoys. The original was very low on voltage and my car wouldn’t start that morning on the first try. First time it ever did show any symptoms. It lasted for about 72,000 miles on my 2014 model year.

My local PepBoys doesn’t sell a lot of this size batteries and the first one read 12.12v with my multimeter which of course is too low for a new battery. Went straight back into the store and they exchanged it for another one that read 12.75 volts. It also was almost a year newer based on the manufacturing date.

Be careful and test the battery before installing it, you could ask them also to test the new battery on their bench test machine, they give you a small receipt with the results.

Kinda surprised they don't keep these charged. We've received several batteries (for literally years) that are DOA at the dealership. But all they needed was a trickle charge. It even stated on the shipping receipt that the battery may have low voltage and may require a charge before being sold. One would think a automotive parts retailer would have the same experience.
