    From Iseecars.com:

One out of 6 Prius owners keep their Prius for 15 years, beat only by the Toyota Highlander.

The study actually reports the percentage of 15 year old or older vehicles sold by the original owner.

“The oldest hybrid vehicle to remain in continuous production, the Prius’ appearance on the list helps dispel concerns about battery durability and shows that Toyota’s quality and reliability standards extend beyond its conventional fuel vehicles.”

Prius has ranked high in previous studies as well.

    Thanks! ... interesting analysis.

Yes, I know you guys are being facetious, but looking at the brand ranking statistics, with Toyota at the top of the long held list, and being more or less tied as the largest manufacturer, it seems to make a compelling case for durability trumping planned obselesence. I hope.

So who is keeping those cars? Is it millennials or geezers? People likely to be on their last car or liable to buy many others over their life? Does it build dealer profits? Brand loyalty? Is it too good?

Last year we sold our 98 4runner for a 2017 Lexus. Our Prius will be turning 10 years old in August and I’ll run it til the repair bills get too high;).

We’re in our 30’s, so not a millennial and hopefully not a geezer:oops:.

We’re sold on the toyota brand and the reliability of their products. I do most maintenance myself, and that also helps keep costs down:).

But keeping a Prius for 15 years, I’m going to try and make it(y).

No repair bill can be too high when you DIY. Sounds like you'll be keeping this car forever

I hope so as I’m hoping our retirement happens sooner;).

Minimizing expenses is key to saving more:).

from what i read here, most people who keep cars over 10 years can't afford to fix them, and can't afford a newer one. i'm guessing on the younger side, but who knows?

but there may be thousands who don't have major issues, or don't show up here

40 if I win the lottery or that long lost rich relative finally finds me:p.

55 is the goal and having the 2010 slug out my 38 mile one way commute for as long as feasible will help ensure this occurs(y).

    This is silly.
I did sell my first gen3 prius after 1 year.
Because I replaced it with a prius plug in

And I will replace it too if I can afford anything better. But not because the car is bad, but because I want something better
