With GM, Ford, Chrysler you often get more than you paid for; it's called the shaft. (Former/never again, GM owner).

ironically the Kia is the Econo-brand/label of a Hyundai, which is about to release their very similar to the Niro, the Kona. Yet from early articles - the Kona appears to be offered better equipped ... and USA MSRP to be $36,450.
Hyundai’s Kona EV has great range and costs as much as the average car - The Verge
With a lot of states and fed incentives, it can possibly be knocked down another $10K. For a 258 mile range EV? not too shabby.

a question worthy of an answer.

Ugh! On my stripped 2016 manual shift Elantra that I bought for sub-$13,000..... in the Safeway parking lot, someone caved in the right front bumper corner (NOT a small bump). They didn't even leave a phone number, so I could thank & pay them for the asymmetrical custom work. My friend tried to pop the dent out with a suction cup, but couldn't. My mechanic worked on it for a while, with some heat & got it to pop back out. He realigned some of the corner lights & everything works & looks good again. He charged me $250. Hey, keep it simple. Life happens.

What is an Auris or an Anensis? Discontinue the Yaris?...... someone got 60MPG with the simple, cheap Yaris. A mechanic said he very seldom worked on Yaris cars in his shop. Those are real reasons to discontinue it, fer sure.

I see there are 2019's on the GM Lots. I wonder what the last year's total production is/was.

77.7% to pick nits - you are just too generous ....
but like bisco points out ..... that >50 ev miles is nothing to sneeze at .... despite its extra battery weight killing gas efficiency.

The Auris and Avensis are a hatchback and sedan available overseas. The US got the Auris as the Scion/Corolla iM. The new Corollas are replacing them.

Subcompact cars are dying in the US. We might get a Mazda2 hatch badged as a Yaris, but I don't see us getting the new Toyota Yaris.
