We had to rent a Nissan Rogue SUV recently and noticed it was more difficult to fit our luggage in the back compared to the Prime.

A few 2ft x 8ft sheets of foam insulation will fit easily with the front seat folded down. There's probably space for a stack of insulation boards 1-2 feet high that way. I need to break them into 2ft wide pieces to fit in the crawlspace anyway (it's sold in 4x8 sheets that are scored to split in half).

Is it me or the Prime has much less cargo room in the back vs the older generation? I have a 13 plugin and seems the new Prime has much less room. Height wise it seems to be much lower.

Yes, you are correct. Prime has a much smaller cargo area due to the larger battery under the deck.

Lee... I tried to leave you a PM, but your account is blocked. I am curious how your "moonstone" interior is holding up?

I love the look of the Moonstone, but am terrified that it would be really easy to get dirty!

Here's our 6' tall Christmas tree, even with room to spare for the 2 year old, if he was with me. The front passenger seat is in a normal seating position.

^ I see you've got the charging cable for the tree right there with it too!

Yeah, that was me being lazy after working midnight to noon, and just wanting to get home asap... When I work weekends, I take the Prime, which is normally my wife's, and since my boss isn't around, I borrow some juice for the drive home

Has anyone tried to put a Queen Size mattress in the Prius Prime? I think it is a bit of stretch to fit it in.

It is if the mattress is one of those inflatable types. Heck even a king-sized inflatable mattress might fit!

I was concerned about Prime's way smaller cargo space than the regular Prius, but this thread is making me think that I would enjoy the Prime and that cargo space might do just fine.

Depends on your definition of "fit" I guess ;-)

Surprisingly, the contents of an overflowing Costco cart actually do fit into the trunk (and one back seat) of a Prime.

Yeah. But it was on the roof and with universal roofbars... You can fit anything that way

This thread makes my inner carpacker extremely happy.

I once strapped a 4x8 sheet of plywood to the top of my previous car (a 2004 Honda Civic Hybrid) and drove it home from the hardware store. Once you start getting creative, I find you can fit, carry or haul quite a few things in a smaller vehicle.

We use to use Toyota Sienna minivan for all the hauling. With second-row seats removed and the third-row seats stowed away the van had totally flat fully accessible cargo that can take 4x8 plywood laying flat. We use to use the van to haul 16 bails of straws in the back. We had to get rid of the van and now having the PRIME as our only vehicle, we can fit only 4 bails. And no way, I am going to try 4x8 plywood on this car.

Try universal roof bars. I did, you can put anything you want on the roof as long as it weights lessthat 75kg/ 150pounds
