Just wondering what is the purpose, if any, of those little windows..... sort of remind me of the wing vents we used to have on a car when I was a kid. Except those wing vents would open. And just below them, there are what look like little vents... Just curious. Love my Prius!

When Pewter was a kitten, that was her favorite place to be. :)

I suppose it's better than being completely blocked. It gives a bit of a view.

I would guess not for the view! I think it was a design statement. It is just way cool! Good place to put a parking sticker since it is unusable. Still it does look good, from the outside.

Try something: Use something dark to cover those little windows for a few days.

I believe that without those little windows there, that awkward little space would be dark and depressing. I think the little windows brighten up that space.

That is only because you live in the Midwest! Here in the PNW we love dark gloomy days. The less light the better because I never know where I left my sunglasses and I hate buying the third pair this summer!

Now, THAT is a super idea. Of course, being a retired Kindergarten Teacher, I WOULD think so.

That, and for increased visibility seeing as the A-pillers can cause some unfortunate blind spots which pedestrians like to hide behind. :D

They're too low and at the wrong angles to see pedestrians with.

Probably for design as one reason. If you look outside, it allows the profile to smoothly follow the windshield rather than having an abrupt vertical line where the mirror/door is.

Besides, I put my parking pass in that window. It's out of sight so I don't have a round thing stuck to the bottom left of the windshield.

I've often wondered the answer to this question as well ... what are they for? I met a fellow Prius owner here who put her small stuffed animal of Eeyore there. When it comes to those windows, I'll quote Eeyore and say simply: "thanks for noticing me."

Ugh I ponder this question too, still no good reason for my technical non-creative mind......

Due to the aerodynamic (Kammback) design of the vehicle, there is an abnormal amount of A pillar (and associated interior) blockage as compared against the history of cars with a more upright A pillar.

This so-called blockage results in less viewing area or in other words a blind spot, where a blind spot normally is not.

Although the window doesn't give a proper view of traffic, it does offer some outside viewing, especially of curbs, and lessens the impression of a huge A pillar being in your face.

Besides all that, I think it makes the perfect place to attach a glass suction cup arm leading to an IPOD holder or GPS holder.
